I can’t even say I’m surprised. Their social media presence is often obtuse and, ah, insensitive, utterly clueless about who their audience is (remember when they used Demon!Dean molesting a stripper to promote their show? Or when they make fun of teenage girls in their official promos? Or when their executive vice president of marketing and digital programs called tumblr the “male pinterest”?).
TPTB are pretty thin-skinned when it comes to criticism. Singer in particular has a reputation of punishing people, including cast and crew, for criticism or even just questioning.
The retconning isn’t even a matter of opinion, it’s something that’s quantifiable. You can point out exactly where the retcon or continuity error happened. But SPN/CW doesn’t like it when you point out exactly where they messed up, even when it’s a big giant thing that any other media outlet wouldn’t just ignore.
So I am not surprised the CW Supernatural facebook account blocked you for being disappointed and voicing legitimate criticism.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Kind of want another #asksupernatural for... reasons...
in which the CW just never, ever, *ever* learns
Good evening tumblr, and welcome to twitter hashtag hijacking! Tonight’s episode, “#askcw,” is, unfortunately, just a reboot of last summer’s runaway success, the #AskSupernatural hashtag hijack—but it does feature an exciting new addition: the series just one week ago killed off another underrepresented and fan-beloved character in a particularly brutal, misogynist, and OOC fashion that served zero narrative purpose, while also pointedly separating its two most shipped male leads all season long! I’ll be your host this evening. Let’s get started right away.
First up: amusement that the CW is doing this…again.
Then, hijackers pretty much descended directly into blatant mockery and expert trolling, garnering RTs and faves of the running-high-five variety, dragging the network’s longest-running show for being overwhelmingly a white cis bro dude fest of performative manly manliness *crushes beer can on forehead.*
A couple of people got meta/meme/sarcastic with it, which sophisticated irony probably went over many heads—especially those of the CW execs, who don’t ever actually use twitter or the interwebs and think tumblr is “the male Pinterest.”
One sapient commenter made reference to other problematic CW shows, and forged profitable comparisons; while another noted that the tag was almost entirely about what some twitter users refer to as #ThatShow.
One hijacker politely apologized to the poor CW intern [some people have theories about this intern, I believe?]—and, finally, hijackers thanked their hosts for a delightful party, because their mamas raised them right. Until next time, CW! We're all looking forward to another reboot in 2016, because we know your fandom will have more exciting questions about this quality programming!
PS of course, if the CW would ever check out the notes to my my conference presentation on social media/fandom, they might…you know what, never mind.
What good is a Tuesday without Supernatural?

I really think they heard the fandom with this summer's #asksupernatural
Seriously, this season has given us so many awesome ladies, and so far all episode pass the Bechdel test. This has never happened before on this show.
this is ur daily reminder to check out the #asksupernatural tag on twitter because it is gorgeous and everyone is angry
