wisteria; whom do you admire and why? 

Alright, I’m gonna lean into fandom and say Tony Stark here. Not because there aren’t real people I admire or anything, but because he exemplifies a lot of qualities that I admire in people. He’s not a perfect person at all, of course, and there’s also qualities I’m less fond of, but...

To me, he reminds me that it’s never too late to turn things around. It’s never too late to look at things, to see they are Not Right, and to change them. He doesn’t forget what’s gone wrong, doesn’t forget the mistakes he’s made, but he doesn’t let those keep him down. And to me, it is really important to see that it’s never too late, as long as you don’t give up.

angel’s face; what was your favorite bedtime story as a child?

Okay so I asked my mom and her response was “wow, nothing specific comes to mind” so instead I’ll tell you all a secret. Because I know a lot of people are familiar with the whole ‘my brain keeps working and worrying and now I can’t sleep’ and in theory, I’m someone who’s super susceptible to that. In practice, however, I have a trick.Since I’m not gonna be able to stop the thinking, what I do instead is target the thinking. Ever since I was young, I’d make up stories in my mind when going to sleep, and I’d eventually drift off. Often self-indulgent self-insert stories that I never planned to write out anyway, which means I don’t have to worry about remembering any of it the next morning. That way, I can target all that thinking into not-worrying, and the transition to sleep would go more smoothly. It has worked really well for me, and who knows - maybe it’ll help someone else as well.

peony; share a small random book passage that means something to you.

For this, I picked Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson, an utterly humorous and poignant book about mental health and how to deal with its difficulties. A specific passage wasn’t easy to find, since there’s a lot of good ones and a lot of bizarre ones and I wanted one that showed the essence of the book, both the meaningful and the weird, and I think I found it.“Personally, I always compare myself to Galileo because everyone knows he’s fantastic, but he has no spoons at all because he’s dead. So technically I’m better than Galileo because all I’ve done is take a shower and already I’ve accomplished more than him today. If we were having a competition I’d have beaten him in daily accomplishments every damn day of my life. But I’m not gloating because Galileo can’t control his current spoon supply any more than I can, and if Galileo couldn’t figure out how to keep his dwindling spoon supply I think it’s pretty unfair of me to judge myself for mine.” [p242]I love this book, and I still reread it sometimes because it helps me with my own mental issues as well, by encouraging me and reminding me I’m not the only one.

Blue, mostly. It’s a color that I like seeing, so that gives me a good feeling.

10. what’s something you’re excited for?

That’s kinda difficult since there’s nothing currently on my agenda which is a big ‘omg yes’-moment. I still have hopes that my boyfriend will propose at some point, so that’d be something 😅

18. do you still love stuffed animals?

I do. I very much do. There’s two currently actually in my bed, though I have loads more - my rabbit, which was given to me when I was born and is my oldest stuffed animal, and a red panda plush that I got myself last year. I love soft things, and stuffed animals are definitely included (to, occasionally, my boyfriend’s exasperation).

20. what do you want most in the world right now?

A couple of things that are mostly tied together. Overall, I think a) money would make a difference. Which I would get if I could get b) a job. Which would help me gain some c) self-confidence and peace of mind.

2. what’s your feel-good movie?

I had feel-good movies when I was younger (for example, I watched Miss Congeniality probably 10 times when I was home with a concussion), but nowadays it’s mostly fics. Still, Legally Blonde and Disney movies are easy contenders, but so are some oddball disaster movies, because apparently I like seeing the world destroyed when I’m not feeling well xD I’ll also watch some Try Guys videos because they make me laugh.

23. favorite piece of clothing?

There’s plenty of clothing that I like a lot, especially since I recently Marie Kondo’d myself through my closet last month. A lot of those are for occasions, though. In the end, it’s probably the super soft, fluffy, dark purple housecoat I found some years ago that is lovely and warm and super comfy.

29. morning, afternoon or night?

I’m pretty much a night owl. Afternoon is doable. Mornings, I usually spend sleeping again after I’ve walked the dog in order to get through the day xD

First of all, I just opened my inbox and saw your list of reviews and oh wow thank you that was amazing to find!

Second, Steve… He’s tricky for me, to be honest. I like the idea of him, the way he was intended to be - good, and just, and willing to fight what’s wrong. And in some stories, that’s what I focus on.

But a lot of the time, I look at the decisions the MCU had him make, the bad decisions, and the way he’s still framed as being what he was intended to be. He faces few, if any, true consequences for his actions. And after all of those decisions, he’s still there, righteous and stubborn and determined to think the best hands are his own, and that just about makes me scream.

Some of the time, he’s a convenient obstacle, because it’s very easy to imagine that righteousness going wrong the way I feel it did in canon. And some of the time, it’s that frustration with him that shines through.

I like what Steve was supposed to be, but I think Marvel did him wrong. And sometimes I use that characterization rather than the one they’d intended, because I want to work through that frustration or because I need someone to be the obstacle. And as much as I don’t like him, even in those cases, he’s a convenient obstacle exactly because he means well. He adds some conflict into a story, but in most of the stories where he is, he’s called out on it and tries to do better instead.

Thank you very much for the ask! I do remember that moodboard - the only disadvantage is that there’s currently a pile of… well, quite a few WIPs and ideas and events that I’m working on. So while it’s still the idea to write a story for that one day,  I’m afraid I cannot give any guarantees as to when that will be.

As for what happens, well… Bucky is Not Amused. Tony needed him, and he couldn’t be there for him like he’d promised because they’d made him unable to? Yeah, he gets rather pissed off. And maybe Natasha isn’t the only one off to decimate them (because Clint has hot chocolate, and Pepper and Rhodey have companionship, and Bucky really doesn’t need all that long to wreak utter destruction upon those that have angered him).
