Which/how many of your OCs are theatre kids? (Or would be theatre kids if they had high school available at a time when that was a thing, I’m sure vampire education is complicated)
Hmmm...
Amethyst, possibly Carnelian (although he'd probably be more of a tech theatre person), Mal, Lilith, and I could see Rory and Briar Rose both liking theatre.

not about vampire royalty but can i ask what’s amethyst’s favorite thing about ruby & whats ruby’s favorite thing about amethyst? 😍😍😍 (also, for funsies, what is the jeweler’s favorite thing about each of them?) - newbornwhumperfly
Amethyst's favorite thing about Ruby is how she's managed to stay so resilient despite everything she's been through and how she's been able to still be soft and kind.
Ruby's favorite thing about Amethyst is how protective she is of those she cares about. It can take a while to break through her hard exterior but once Amethyst cares about someone, she will commit a felony for them.
The Jeweler's favorite thing about Ruby is how much she tries to be good and how hard she works to be perfect. His favorite thing about Amethyst is how calculating she can be and how her defiance is we'll planned.
Amethyst, what did the Jewler do to change your appearance that hurt you the most? (Mentally)
"My eyes," she whispers, one hand reaching up as if to touch them before falling back down into her lap. "He ruined my eyes. He said he wanted them to match my hair, match the 'jewel I truly am.' So he ruined them."
She falls silent for a moment before softly adding, "I used to have the prettiest green eyes."
🎂 BIRTHDAY CAKE - when is their birthday? do they like celebrating it?
Her birthday is Aug. 8! She used to have huge parties when she was younger, and her family always turned into this big social event. However, when she moved out on her own, and later on in the Box, she didn't really celebrate because it tended to just bring up bad memories. Much later on, she starts having small celebrations again, usually just her and Ruby.
💢 ANGER - what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?
She taps her nails against pretty much anything. It can get on some people's nerves, but it's how she releases some of her anxious energy. She also plays with her hair a lot, like just running her hand through it or tucking and untucking a strand behind her ear repeatedly.
👊 PUNCH - are they quick to violence?
If she wanted to be, yes. A lot of the time, she just wants to scream and snap, hurting (or killing) everyone around her. She was much more prone to violent when she was younger, but it quickly got beaten taught out of her by her parents. Now, she suppresses a lot of her anger and bends it to her will.

amethyst and school, carn and day/night, amber and aspirations
Amethyst and school
In elementary school, she really took an interest in science (particularly the chemistry related aspects).
Around middle school, once she understood her family's reputation, she stopped trying as much in school, and focused more on extracurriculars and being popular.
In high school, she did end up taking a lot of AP classes, and despite maintaining her nonchalant attitude, she did work hard and care a lot about her grades.
A lot of her teachers, especially those she had when she was older, were originally surprised at the level of her class work versus how she acted at school.
Carnelian and day/night
When he was younger, he used to always get up suuuuper early, like ridiculously, before the sun had even risen early.
He always preferred getting up early to staying up late because he liked being awake and feeling like there was a whole day in front of him.
However, when he got older, he did start to appreciate staying up extremely late and often did so, even when he had school or work early the next morning.
He's such an energetic early bird and this very much irritates Sapphire, who is not fully human in the mornings.
Amber and aspirations
When they were little, they wanted to become either an astronaut or a paleontologist because space and dinosaurs are cool.
As they got older, they really just wanted to be liked and accepted by their peers and parents. They started focusing on this more than any academic or career goals they had.
They never really thought they'd amount to much because they spent so much of their life being overshadowed by their twin sister.
Now, they just want to be contrary for the sake of it.
For the "Color Asks" post—what about the fulvous one?
fulvous: another name you think would suit you.
Nyle, it took me a while to answer this question because I really wanted to think about it. AKA, jess once again goes on a useless tangent: proceed with caution, it's a bit long. Should I start calling this Tumblr Musings, now? lmao
Some people may not agree with me, but personally, I think there is so much power and identity that goes with a name. Whether it is your birth name or a name that you choose for yourself, anything that aligns with who you are as a person is incredibly beautiful and powerful in and of itself—no matter the origin.
This extends to pseudonyms, usernames, middle names—anything at all.
I've gone through many username changes over the years—especially on ao3 when I hadn't yet published any works. I want to take an embarrassing trip down memory lane over the ao3 usernames I've had, and why, ultimately, I chose J Amethyst. It's not too deep, but considering we are on the subject of names I thought it would be fun to talk about.
Get ready, Nyle, this is about to become a ramble I'm publishing on the internet and not the comfort of our dms. There's a first for everything, haha.
Many of my previous usernames stemmed from a fandom obsession I had during that time: the main two I remember were something along the lines of "hxthoseok" which was during my kpop rabbit hole, and "lightwood-daddario" which is from the Shadowhunters series, and because, well, Matthew Daddario is quite the attractive man. I'm a simple woman, after all.
There was also another username I had when I very first started writing fic (perhaps maybe 5 years ago now) which felt a bit more personal to me because it used an old nickname my friends (still) call me, and also implements "music" as part of the username. I told you a while ago what this particular nickname is, and how sometimes I have mixed feelings about it. And I think this is where the nuance of names come in.
I love and appreciate the fact that my friends took the time to come up with this nickname, and by now it's been like 7 years since they started referring to me by this name so it's almost become unnatural to hear my friends call me "Jess" or "Jessica."
But if we're talking about a name that I think suits me, this particular nickname didn't fit well for me. Not as a name I wanted other people to see my work by. There are some names, some things that have their own place—I don't like other people besides my very close friends calling me this particular nickname, just like how most of the time, I prefer to be called "Jess" over "Jessica."
So, I wanted a username that suited me and my personality, while also feeling a bit more personal than those other usernames I had like "lightwood-daddario."
Once upon a time, I had an OC named Amethyst. She had purple eyes and purple hair and was almost my very first foray into writing Harry Potter fanfiction. I didn't get very far, but she was definitely going to end up with Fred!
It's no secret how much I adore the colour purple, and especially the amethyst crystal. I've always thought it was gorgeous, and I think the colour represents me and my personality perfectly. Purple usually symbolises ambition and creativity, and I like to try and strive for those two things in everything that I do.
I really like J Amethyst as a username, I think "Amethyst" is a really pretty name for someone to have, but yet, you have no idea how happy I get when someone simply calls me "Jess." I don't know why, but it feels personal somehow, as if someone, like you, from across the world knows me enough to want to call me Jess.
And I think that's really, really damn cool.
Names are so powerful, they can be connecting. I subconsciously let you know that I understand you, that I know you by calling you Nyle, and that's what I really like about names, the personal understanding/friendship that can go along with it. I think that's why a lot of my drarry fics delve into "Malfoy" and "Potter" and the ultimate progression and emotional impact of when they finally call each other by their first names.
TLDR: I think names of every kind are very beautiful, and although I don't think there's another singular name that would suit me more than Jess, or even Jessie, I think J Amethyst is the closest I could come to. Perhaps I should start releasing music under that name instead of my real name, haha. It seems kind of showman-y, now that I think about it.
