I.M.Caine/Mal is open for asks!

Playing the role of the fool for the Cast of Admins, welcome Impulsive Malware Caine, or Mal for short. He's an unstable AI with a tampered code and a fractured mind. Now, he broadcasts his performance live for you all to see.

Treat him well, or don't.

CW: Mal is part of my TADC AU "A quiet (IM)pulse.", and there will be themes of violence, horror, trauma, abuse, and death (other warnings will be specified). This fic is rated mature, so please be wary and take care.

!!Much needed edit!!: for those of you following the Caine Multiverse canon, this interaction takes place AFTER all of act 1, and after Mal has made regular connections with Pop [PopCaine AU belongs to @biblically-accurate-star | @popcaine ] and Sedum [The Actual Good Ending AU belongs to @coolowlrogue ]. Mal does have knowledge that other AUS exist, and is very open about meeting with other Caines!

Out of sight but not hearing, Lyndon chuckled: "I thought they were ugly enough you'd like them. That is your preferred aesthetic. Functionally sharp and armored?"

Malthael pinched his lips distastefully. "My preferred aesthetic is less leprosy. Or were you unaware of that joyful fact?"

"I didn't say you had to pet them. You're the one imagining that part. Also, no. I wasn't aware." He paused. "Wait, why do you know that, of all things? Not to question your omnipotent, over-stuffed cranium, but ... armadillos?"

"They nest in old logs."

"Yes, and you nest in a home most of the time. What about it?"

"Very old, very large, hollow logs."

"...Except when you're moonlighting as a tramp, I suppose...was it at least cute?"'

"I did not give it much thought at the time."

At the time, it had been dark and he had been somewhat freshly made mortal. All he had been able to see was two glowing eyes in the dark, followed by a shrieking, angry armadillo shaped silhouette. He hadn't even known it was an armadillo until he had skewered it defensively and brought it to back to Salvos' church for proper identification.

The priest's surprised yelp had been the first indication something was amiss. The second was his vexed lecture on all the plagues carried by armored mammals. The third was his insistence that Malthael sleep in the abandoned cellar until they could confirm he hadn't become a carrier.

As a child, Diamond was such a teacher's pet in their classes. And they were called "a pleasure to have in class".

Sapphire was the kid that knew everyone in the class and would talk. to. everyone.

Ruby started playing the piano and violin when she was four and was soloing in concerts by the age of seven.

Amethyst was known as the person you went to if you needed anything. She knew what was going on with everyone and she would tell you. For a price.

Emerald was homeschool until the age of eleven, when his family moved to America. When he got there, he learned that his education, while sporadic and at the whims of his parents and older brothers, was much more thorough and advanced than that of his peers.

In middle school, Amber set a new school record for number of detentions as well as ISS's (in school suspensions).

Carnelian took advanced classes up through junior high but switched to regular classes in high school due to pressure from his friend group.

Hugo was, like Diamond, a pleasure to have in class, and he was always the first one a teacher would go to if they needed any help.

Quinn was that kid who the other kids always thought was up to something but they could never catch them or prove anything and who the teachers absolutely adored.
