*uhh, surprise muffin attack!, as a muffin gently hits your forehead*
She blinked twice and looked at wherever the muffin came from.
regarding "giving" osomatsu depression, and this is just my two cents i'm throwing in here (hopefully in a constructive way/gen), i actually just genuinely think he is truly depressed. Definitely not in the major clinical or bipolar way that gets romanticized a lot, but in a very realistic "he tries to pretend it's not there, but if he stops being distracted he realizes that his life is empty and hollow, so he shuts his eyes and ears and keeps running endlessly on the hamster wheel he can't/won't get off of". Like, he needs good therapy, and definitely needs more help with his abandoment issues, but probably not medication. He's depressed in like a "if i woke up dead would it matter?" way, not an "i want to wake up dead" way. idk, do i make sense? Like, he's not *unhappy* he's just,,, not,, *happy*
Thank you so much for this ask! It makes me really happy! You are a 100% valid and I can see this being true (especially with how he's been behaving in Season 4). I also understand what you mean!
When I said "giving" Osomatsu depression, I meant that he's never been canonly stated to have depression. Canon-wise the only one strongly hinted to have depression would be Ichimatsu, and that's because that's his whole gimmick. He's the depressed loner one (though he's getting better).
Since Osomatsu-san is a gag anime, they're not really going to outright state, "this character has depression" in a serious way without setting it up to be a joke later. Like, they're not going to come out and say, "Todomatsu went to therapy and found out he has depression" and that be part of his character for the rest of the series.
The thing about Osomatsu-san (and this is what I adore) is that us fans look between the gags, and we find these serious moments that hint to more of their character than what's stated, and we attach them to said character. Things the writers might not have even intended to stick to said character.
Let's take Osomatsu's abandonment issues for example. Why do we think he has this? The biggest reason is the "Letters" episode. We saw how pissy and un-Osomatsu became after Choromatsu left, and the others leaving didn't help matters. That let us see that Osomatsu doesn't want his brothers to leave him. Even just one leaving him upsets him, so we attached the abandonment issues to him.
Here's the thing though: The writers NEVER intended that. The whole thing about "Letters" being their oddly sad/serious episode was just so they could set up the punchline of the next episode. That's why in the next episode, none of "Letters" even mattered. It was just to trick the fans into thinking something serious was happening, and then getting to laugh when everything went back to the statues quo the next episode (especially in the manner they did it, where Osomatsu just goes and gathers his brothers while they're all, uh, "busy.") That's not the first time they've done this either: The whole point of the ESP kitty episode was just for the punchline where Karamatsu shows up, bandaged and hurt from the kidnapping, and cries about how unfair his brothers treat him.
But, we fans pick up these breadcrumbs and make more complex characters out of them. We take these serious moments and stick them to the characters, even if the show has moved on and forgotten about it.
So, we can see in between the lines and see that maybe Osomatsu isn't as happy as he actually pretends to be, but canon wise he's not going to be given a depression disorder (at least not without a punchline), but that doesn't make us seeing him as depressed any less valid.
Hopefully this didn't come off as bitchy! I just wanted to explain what I meant. I really do appreciate the ask and hope to get more in the future! ^^

"Im bored, so feel free to ask me stuff."
If Emerald, Diamond, and Ruby were all born on a different era (ie medieval times. 1920s, 40s) what era would they live in?
(For clarification- referencing the saying "they were born in the wrong era")
Emerald would be part of the Romantic period, no questions asked. He would kill someone to be able to visit the Lakes District during that time period.
I feel like Diamond would actually really thrive during the 1920s. They would like the speakeasies and the dancing and the music.
Ruby would definitely love the Renaissance period. All the art and music would really bring her life.
The Gluttony Demon Minato approached Ruby with a big platter of chocolate chip cookies-her favorite. "Sup Ruby? I brought all of these for you to enjoy!"
"Gasp-!! Thank you stranger who knows my name somehow!"
She hardly took the time to ponder that fact, but in her defense, cookies were much more important than thinking. Her swift hand movements scooped up the treats one by one, until the platter had only crumbs left.
"Aaaah, that hit the-
Bwuuurrrp!~
-...Spot!~ Snrrk, hehehehehehe!~"
Her own burp prompted a collection of giggles as she massaged her tummy, bloated from the feast but shielded by her corset. That burp wasn't the only gas looking to escape, however...
Grrrrrrooooaaaan-!
"Uh...oh. Gimmie a sec, just...gotta-!"
BVVVvvrrrumpt!!~ ]
Ruby took this moment to lift her knee and grunt out a potent stinker from her bottom, its smell engulfing the air around the two...
"Whew...that was grooooss!~"
She remarked in a joking manner as she fanned the stench away, not trying to hide her blushing cheeks in the slightest. This gas was going to last for awhile, so the two might as well enjoy it!~
