Stargate SG-1
2010 > S4.16
First of all, contrary to my prior claims that I donât like the timey wimey episodes, I enjoy the Aschen/Ashen plot line.
Second, the one where Walter gets a name.
Third, having heard Amanda Tapping talk about in a panel how she had struggled a bit with infertility, I watched this episode and my heart broke. How hard would that be to put on screen what was so deeply personal and real? đ
SPOILERS for Season 8
Fourth, this is the episode when I decided (during my first watch) that the writers were shifting the ship for these two in a more tragic direction. I said, âoh, heâs Snape.â Imagine my surprise when that episode comes up and he says that one word. I already checked so you donât have to. Jack said it before Snape.
This also seems like a good time to address my âIâve seen this episode ofâŚâ propensity. There is nothing new under the sun. Just the same personalities and archetypes weâve been writing for centuries. If something seems familiar, just know thatâs because it was modeled after a human. It doesnât have to diminish the beauty of the creation.
