@artsiesforever for wip wednesday, may 27 2026, in "tinyship"
If Shang Qinghua had wandered anywhere splattered in blood, he would likely get the authorities called on him. This was a perfectly normal if inconvenient reaction. After all, the blood had to come from somewhere, and the likelihood that it had some good and righteous reason was, for the average citizen, incredibly slim.
But Shang Qinghua rather suspected it would be different for Yue Qingyuan.
People made a lot of exceptions for Yue Qingyuan. Of course part of it had to be his face. It was easy for handsome men to open new avenues. But that wasnât quite it, really. Beauty, certainly, but also a pleasantness that seemed completely separate. Something oddly correct about his posture and his expression, as if you were beholding something truly good and pure --- as if you beheld the distilled essence of a righteous cultivator, who, even though he was covered in blood, surely was covered in blood for the greater good.

From my May 27th post here; some of History (Lost and Found) from my original series Renaud's Family for @artsiesforever and @auburnlaughter, thanks!
âAnd you?â Jacques added, and Renaud laughed, squeezing him closer, nuzzling his temple.
âScamp.â Renaud accused fondly. âYes, just so. I can see this . . . antiquity any time I like.â
Jacques brought a hand to his face, covering his lips, but Renaud could still hear him giggling. He arched a brow. âAnd so can you.â he pointed out with a smile, and Jacques only shook his head, eyes bright, as his laughter grew louder - despite what appeared to be his best efforts.
Renaud brushed his fingers over Jacquesâ forearm as he brought himself back under control.
Also wrote two more study cards for my Leitner box.
No. 18 for the kakairu drabbles! I need some soft in my life.
From this prompt list.
Thank you! Okay disclaimer... it's 4am here to please forgive me for any typos.
#18 - Sharing a soft smile across a crowded room.Â
"At last," Kakashi mumbled to himself, breathing a sigh of relief as the village gates came into view. He was glad to finally be back in the village, their mission having taken longer than expected.Â
"Sorry, Kakashi-taicho. What did you say?" Sai asked, head cocked sideways like a curious owl.
"Maa, nothing," he replied, waving his team off. "Go home and go get some rest, you've worked hard. I'll go hand in our mission report." His offer to hand in their mission report wasn't entirely selfless, there being someone he was desperate to see, but his team didn't need to know that.Â
Not to mention that 2 weeks of listening to the constant bickering between Sai and Naruto had driven him half mad.
Sakura raised an eyebrow, her stare suspicious, but ultimately said nothing, allowing Naruto to drag both her and Sai away, loudly exclaiming that they needed to refuel on ramen.
Traipsing through the village, Kakashi headed straight to the mission room, pace slow as though he wasn't in a rush to be anywhere. To an onlooker, he looked like the epitome of laziness, nose in Icha Icha as he slouched his way slowly through the village.
Really, his heart was racing at a million miles an hour.Â
Lub-dub, lub-dub, lub-dub.
Adrenaline coursed through his veins in excitement. If he had a tail, it would surely be wagging right now.
Kakashi came to stop outside the mission room, then, took a deep breath and pushed the doors open. It was loud and busy. Much busier than he'd expected, and jounin milling about everywhere. Just the noise level and proximity of people had him feeling jittery, on edge almost.Â
But, when he pushed his way through the crowd, he caught a glimpse of something that took his breath away and immediately settled his nerves.
Iruka.Â
Gosh he was absolutely beautiful.Â
Gently, Kakashi reached out with a tendril of his chakra, and then Iruka was looking up from his desk, eyes going wide for a second before his mouth split open in the widest smile he'd ever seen.
It was almost blinding, the love written all over Iruka's face, all of it for Kakashi.
He smiled back, eyes crinkling in a way that, despite the mask, Iruka would know the smile underneath was just as full of happiness and love. Â
Yes, he was happy to finally be home.Â

zoro just abruptly deciding to propose to sanji...
10/10 would read great potential
âOI, COOK. MARRY ME.âÂ
â--and how much for five pounds of the--what??â
âI SAID,â yelled Zoro from clear across the marketplace, âMARRY ME.â
Sanji placed the cantaloupe he had been examining back on the fruit display. âExcuse me, I have to go deal with this.â
âNo worries,â said the fruitseller, grinning.
âThanks. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, MARIMO?â
Zoro rolled his eyes. âGOING DEAF, CURLY? I SAID--â
âI HEARD WHAT YOU SAID! AND STOP SHOUTING,â shouted Sanji.
âThen whatâs your problem?â said Zoro, in a tone of voice that wasnât shouting but managed to be, to Sanjiâs blushing ears, exactly as loud as before.
Sanji sprinted through the market crowd, dodging shoppers, vaulting over crates, pell-mell and hell-bent on rendering Zoroâs face decidedly more concave. âFirst of all--pardon me, madame--First of fucking all--â
âTake your time,â said the smug bastard currently ruining Sanjiâs life.
â--FIRST OF MOTHERFUCKING ALL! Is this some kind of sick joke about Whole Cake?!â
âI would never joke about that,â said Zoro with such sudden sincerity that Sanji faltered in his step and nearly kneed a toddler in the face.
âOkay. Well. Good.â Sanji took a deep breath. âTHEN! DO YOU HAVE WORMS IN YOUR BRAIN?â
âHey, donât talk to your fiancĂŠ like that,â said some smartass in the rapidly gathering crowd around them.
Sanji whirled towards the voice but was too agitated to pick its owner out of the crowd. âHeâs not my-- I havenât even-- Heâs not my fiancĂŠ!â
âNot with that attitude,â said the voice, making a serious go for the number two spot on the coveted People Destroying Sanjiâs Immortal Soul Right That Second List.
âWhy in the fuck,â said Sanji, turning back to Zoro and resolving to find the voice later and turn its owner into particularly rich and nutritious compost, âare you proposing to me out of nowhere?â
Zoro folded his arms defensively. âItâs not out of nowhere. Weâve been together for five years.â
âAs crewmates--HE MEANS AS CREWMATES,â Sanji informed the marketplace.
âBesides,â continued Zoro above the dying echoes of the word âcrewmatesâ as it bounced from nearby buildings, âweâre equals.â
The thought of proud, combative Zoro just coming out and admitting what they both knew but never articulated was almost enough to shock Sanji out of his outrage. Almost. âThat doesnât!! You canât just!!â
Zoro barged forward, blushing slightly, uncaring of Sanjiâs rapidly collapsing blood vessels. âI was coming over to help you with the supplies, and I realized I never want to not have you beside me.â
âDonât encourage him!â Sanji hissed, partially at the cooing crowd but mostly at his moron of a brain as it whispered Shit, thatâs actually really sweet. âYou canât just randomly ask someone to marry you!â
âWhy not?â Zoro said bluntly. âWeâre pirates. And itâs not like Iâm making you marry me; Iâm just asking.â
Sanjiâs eye twitched. âBECAUSE YOU JUST CANâT, OKAY? YOU CANâT ASK SOME RANDOM PERSON--WEâVE NEVER EVEN--HOW DO YOU KNOW IT WOULD EVEN WORK--â
âYou should breathe or youâre going to pass out.â
âIâLL PASS YOU OUT, YOU STUPID BIG STUPID FUCK IDIOT,â said Sanji eloquently.
âAnyway,â continued Zoro, unheeding of Sanjiâs brilliant repartee, âIâm not asking a random person. Iâm asking you.â
Sanjiâs traitorous and highly susceptible heart stuttered giddily against his ribcage. He could feel a blush erupting under his fair skin. His knees-- and damn them for it--went just a little weak. Of course, this whole thing was still nonsense gibberish bullshit of the highest order, but goddammit if there hadnât been something in Zoroâs eyes, in his voice and his posture, something, something...
Something sincere.
No, though. Just say no. Just say no. Sanji scrabbled in his pocket for a cigarette and put it to his lips. What are you doing? Why are you not saying no? Why have you not said no this whole time?Â
People are staring at you. It would be cruel to leave him with false hope. You donât even like guys. Stop lighting that cigarette and do something, for the love of God just say no say no say--
âDo you love me?â THATâS NOT A NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING THAT IS NOT A NO, shrieked Sanjiâs brain.
Zoro took a deep breath, straightened his shoulders, and looked to the horizon. âWouldnât have asked you if I didnât.â
âWell, I donât. Love you like that. You know.â
âYeah.â Zoro kept his eyes fixed on the horizon. Pirate-Hunter Zoro, the man who looked down the blade of death itself and smiled, the man who gave Sanji back his dream--Â âSorry. I just--it was dumb. Sorry.â
âSo maybe,â Sanji said, hands and knees and heart shaking but voice clear as a bell over fog, âyou can convince me to?â
Zoroâs head whipped forward like a sail in a windstorm. âWhat?â
âWhat?â snapped Sanji at himself.
âDid you just--â
âI AM NOT SAYING YES,â said Sanji. âIâm saying you can try to court me.â
âCourt you?â Zoro said incredulously. âAre you a duchess or something?â
Sanji blew out a stream of smoke. âTick tock, moss, one-time temporary insanity offer, take it or leave it.â
âOf course Iâll take it, but whatâs with the Little Lord Fauntleroy shit? Do I have to sign a form or--â
Sanji felt himself start to grin. Dammit. Sorry, ladies. âAnd marimo stumbles off the starting blocks. A very poor first three seconds. Things are not looking good for the rookie challenger.â
Zoro was grinning, too. â--do I need to fill out a dance card? Do you need anything brocaded? Am I supposed to go to the Baratie and, like, throw a glove at Zeff or something?âÂ
âFuck off and come help me with the supplies, discus-face.â
âBecause I can do that, I can throw a glove at him if thatâs your thing, but youâre into some weird shit, curly.â
âI mean, that should be obvious, shouldnât it?â
artsiesforever replied to your post âSometimes I look at all the ways in which Iâm still presenting as...â

@artsiesforever @eriquin for wip wednesday, may 13 2026, in "1000 words" (gsgw rbb)
... I understand now.
This is a situation that has already played out. This ship has already gone down.
On the day of my graduation, the apocalypse began. People had to adapt to the circumstances -- and those who couldnât were forcibly mutated and turned against everyone else. Against a vicious and unyielding horde of mutants, I was able to escape. Everyone who has survived up to today has done the same and successfully ran away.
