TORSBY, SWEDEN
by Clandestinos (Shalak Attack & Bruno Smoky)
For more than a decade Chilean-Canadian Shalak Attack has been fusing the spirit of South American muralism with contemporary street art, spreading “psychedelic magical realism” across the globe with visual narratives honoring the “sacred power of nature.” Brazilian born Bruno Smoky now lives and works in Toronto with his wife Shalak, but says he has not forgotten his roots and his greatest pleasure is “bringing art and culture to otherwise forgotten and precarious neighborhoods.” Painting in the small town of Torsby, Sweden in 2017 for Artscape, the two brought a rough sketch for this large wall that wraps around two sides of the theater on Järnvägsgatan, but after talking with local residents they were also able to incorporate many elements and patterns from familiar local traditions. @shalakattack @brunosmoky @clandestinosart @artscape_festival
