A continuation of my painting process (check out previous vid of me painting this piece, at an earlier stage). My husband egged me on by telling me that he could see things in my painting, and then he carefully detailed WHAT those things were, and exactly WHERE to see them… I can never un-see it. He knows that. My pet peeve is when other people tell me what they see in my paintings, so of course, I had to paint over all those parts! Lol! My friends all make fun of me for this neurotic trait of mine. I cannot help it. Drives me nuts. Bee in my bonnet. Husbands. Today’s a new day! I’m feeling distracted by spring time… Can you tell? This is a painting in progress still. It looks way too tight for me. Needs to loosen up. I’ll get to that as I add layers to it. I think it’s tight because I’m self-conscious about the flowers looking somewhat recognizable shapes to them. I’ve learned that when I just don’t care, it’s easier to be really loose! It’s a sunny beautiful day, and I feel like painting in a way that screams “freedom!”. Messy, messy, messy! Paint everywhere. Let loose! I love it. Spring has long been a season of hope, and now that the world is seeing vaccines roll out across the globe (even if it’s not as fast as we’d like it to be), it is more so now than ever. Progress: I had a go at the big painting that has been occupying space on my easel, looming over me, from the corner of my studio. I was starting to feel guilty about neglecting it. Maybe “neglecting” isn’t the right word to use: I think I just needed to stare at it for a while before deciding where to next go with it. Sometimes I love to throw a LOT of paint onto the canvas when painting. This style is a throwback to the way I used to paint. I’m finding myself drawn back to that style, except that now I am applying much more paint than I ever did before.
