Pro tip for anyone wanting to start with polymer clay: you really don’t need a lot of fancy tools. Sure, do they help as you get more into it and make more detailed pieces, of course! But if you’re just wondering what’s necessary as you’re starting out (and I’ve been there once- everyone has to start somewhere!), you really don’t need much! I’ve gotten a bunch of my friends into starting with clay and all we really needed was the clay! Maybe i’ll follow this up with a more comprehensive list of basic tools around the house that you can use when you don’t have any tools/don’t want to buy tools, but the best basic tool in my opinion is a TOOTHPICK! It’s so versatile- for blending, shaping, detailing, dotting, and more! I made all these pieces here with just my hands and a toothpick. Mixedmedia Embellishment If you are working on 3D project and you need a mushroom.. All you need is used aluminum muffin cups, plastic spoon from takeaways and some pain. I used #primamarketing #artbasics heavy gesso and #dylusions #dylusionspaint The gold is my own paint. Metallic paints will be awesome too but I'm sticking to simple paints. Mixedmedia Tag - Fascinated I'm in love with this one and I wanted it to have the magical feel. The raised centre piece are old colour pencils. I think it belonged to my youngest brother when he was in school. Found it when I was going through old boxes in my hometown 😜 I tried it and it was so old and the lead kept breaking, so yes use it for my artwork. I sharpened both ends and adhered using @primamarketinginc #primamarketing #artbasics 3d matte gel transparent. I applied Prima's heavy gesso I handpainted all the details using Prima's @finnabair_studio #finnabair #artalchemy metallique midnight sky, dark forest, mermaid teal and #artextravagance Brass paste. I had the wooden flowers in my stash. All of them are painted with brass paste and a hint of mermaid teal. I adhered them to upcycle metal wires which was twirled and tinted with the brass paste. I added those shiny blue beads. It's from stash.. I think I had them for 2years now.. Also added some in the middle of the flower. It brought all the elements together.
