i can't write "happy"
It's always been in the back of my mind. I've always struggled with it. And now this novel is bringing it out to infuriating lengths. I just can't write "happy." I can't write the pleasant bits in relationships that make you believe the two characters really belong together. I can write their awkward meeting and I can sure as hell write their arguments and ultimate demise.Ā
Happy just always comes across as sappy, no matter what I do. I had this repeated conversation with someone over the summer, but I have to bring it up again.
Have I really become too cynical about love?Ā
I've been psycho-analyzing myself for quite a while now and I think I've located the cause of this cynicism but I'll spare you all of the subconscious details for now. I just need to figure out how to keep that cynicism from infiltrating my story.Ā
