XenoFact of the Day: Françoise, Her Husband, and Homs Culture
You know in Colony 9âČs Military District, standing around in the middle of the night, is Arnaut? The man who praises Shulk and acts like his number one fan?
So, Arnaut has a wife back in the Residential District, Françoise, and a daughter, Narine. Arnaut is away from home--away from the Residential District--so often that other Colony 9 residents question if heâs ever going to return home. Heâs gone so long, Narine has no affinity link with her own father.
In fact, their marriage is so turbulent, one thing can make or break it. Speak to Arnaut after the attack, and heâll ask how his wife is doing. You reply that he should ask her himself, and he apologizes and says he will; talk to Françoise then, and this leads to a âhappy marriage.â However, you reply that sheâs doing fine, and then you speak to Françoise, and their affinity link whiplashes to a ânear divorceâ status.
Kantz makes a comment about rarely being home, as well. He is the husband of Suzanna, the studying-obsessed mother of Moritz. At least he owns up to it, though.
This raises thoughts on the culture of the Homs. Itâs mentioned by Kenny Rohan that Colony 9 has âgossipy housewives.â My guess is that many of the men serve in the Defense Force and live in barracks in the Military District since they never actually go home all that often (despite being literally a three-minute walk from home). There could be barracks in many of the buildings there--my guess is the large one at the back of the district. However, most must be going home somewhat often, since only Arnaut seems to be mentioned to the point of suspicion and divorce.
(I recall seeing Narine mention her father upon speaking to her in âA Mysterious Lightâ quest. However, I accidentally got too button-happy and skipped through it... -_- And I havenât been able to find any clips of the quest on YouTube that follow Arnaut and Narineâs route. Iâll find the line someday... I could have sworn it had something to do with the light being gone âlike Dad,â but Iâd have to see the line again...)
AH, I found the line! She says her dad would know more about the mysterious light. So, itâs not exactly what I thought it was, haha. At least she knows he does some studies or something at the Military District.

Cassandra: I can protect myself too. Horace: I know that. Enemy: *Comes towards them* Horace: Get behind me.
Halt: "You have a talent for trouble, Horace." Horace (shrugging): "Ah well, it keeps life interesting, doesnât it?" Halt: "Interesting? More like terrifying."
