Iron Age Armlet, circa. 50-200 CE, Perth Museum, Scotland
One of a pair of brass and glass armlets found at Pitkellony, Muthill and typical of the distinctive "Massive" style of Caledonian metalwork. Belief could be expressed in ways other than just by depositing in water. This armlet is so heavy - over 3lbs or 1.3kg - that it suggests it may have been worn on a wooden statue rather than a human arm. The findspot is a slight rise of land that overlooks the same watery landscape shared by Abercairney and Pitkellony.
