Armarauders - Mecha Workshop - EF-JAT-47FG Bellerophon (Cam Custom Deluxe set)
The first (and sadly, only) release from the Armarauders toyline/comic series that was originally conceived by former Transformers artist Don Figueroa, video game executive Valent Wang and writer Dan Taylor.
I remember watching the Facebook updates during the years leading up the release of this product as it was obsessively fine tuned to the high standards of the mecha-loving team. Shamefully, I did not purchase a Bellerophon on release in 2015 despite my excitement.
The Bellerophon is a work of art, sporting a hefty set of accessories that can be used with various ports all over the body. The idea was that every pilot had their own mech with different weapons, so owning multiple figures allowed for the sharing of parts to make your own preferred style.
Everything on the figure feels well-made and solid. Articulation is superb. The die cast content adds a wonderful heft to the figure and aids with the balance. The cockpit is a joy to open, first sliding out and then opening like a jaw. I LOVE that the pilotβs weapons can be stored inside! This feature is sorely lacking in a lot of vehicle toys. The base stand is a great touch. The platforms can be raised and lowered and have a swivel to move out of the way as if the mech was about to take off.
