The first appearance of Nausicaa's iconic gunship.
I feel that it is very significant that it first appears while under maintenance, with Valley workers all over it. It is, after all, a treasured weapon for their valley, something powerful that cannot be manufactured any more. It's one of the biggest reasons why they are still (partially) autonomous.
A little note on the term they use for it, "gunship," I find it interesting that it uses some kind of sci-fi propulsion, neither propeller nor jet engine, so it wouldn't be accurate to call it a "fighter jet" per se, but it should be understood to serve a roughly equivalent role.
