Armillaria, or more commonly known as Honey Fungus.
I spoke with an Arboricultural Consultant today who has recently done a tree report at my development. I have a couple of tree trunks that need to be inspected further once the gardener's have cut away the dense Ivy covering them.
This is to ensure they are not rotten or growing any pretty decorations like the one above. Apparently this type of fungi is not favoured by gardener's due to the damage they can cause to the roots of perennial and woody plants nearby.
Since deciding what my project idea was going to be I have found I am taking so much more of an interest in all types of wildlife, its so interesting!
Great feedback so far from the residents too! I think implementing this will definitely help with their mental health from the way they're talking.
I think I'm going to grow them some magic mushrooms too, you know, cheer them up a little bit more πππ
