Today I have been trying to study my irpm module but my brain will not hold any information so I'm sharing a picture of a tree house my son has booked to stay in when he visits Bali as part of his world trip next year
So, my first post. It’s 22:34 and i’m scrolling through my camera roll looking for something to post, i’m new to this. I thought I’d start with something fairly personal before it all gets serious as this blog does count towards my IRPM (Institute of Residential Property Management) qualification.
I scrolled past the chair we picked out for our ‘extra seating’ after we realised we couldn’t expect our family and friends to all squeeze on our sofa!
We went for a chesterfield vibe to match our main sofa, which made me wonder about where the chesterfield came from and the history behind it. I found a page that explains it pretty well so have linked that if anyone is interested.
As my blog is going to be primarily based around interiors, i’m sure there will be more ‘chair talk’ to come as and when I spot some interesting finds!
Find out about the rich heritage of the Chesterfield sofa, a British design classic, with this history by Timeless Chesterfields. Discover m
Had my first group training session today, feeling accomplished 🖊
Saturday whilst my son was at a party I had some rare time to myself. I went for a wonder and stumbled upon this beauty. I have found a new love for historical buildings.
St Mary’s chapel, Watfords oldest building dating back to the 15th century. Parts of the building survived from the 13th century. It is a grade 1 listed building simply fascinating.

The title for my project idea is ' Implementing Ecosystems into the Housing Sector to Create more Sustainable Living'.
I have sent out a survey to my residents in relation to my project idea and the results were extremely positive. I chose closed questions for this and decided a paper and pen approach was the right way to go with my development as the majority of my residents aren't online, and can get quite stressed out when they are required to do something a little bit technical.
Although digital is the way of the future, in many cases the older generation just don't get along with it!
A bit like me today when trying to send out a Survey Monkey for feedback from other managers but only successfully managing to deliver it to myself. 🤦♀️
Yeah so had enough of that for one day and decided to do some online research for some information on how the local council supports ecosystems. I have found a lot of info out about the Harrow Biodiversity Action Plan and how they conserve and enhance wildlife in the borough but what I really want to know is how is this is encouraged on actual individual housing developments and if not, what is preventing it? I have a slightly different set of questions for them and other housing organisations I plan to explore.....
Due to Covid-19 though, calling and actually speaking to a person is proving to be somewhat challenging!
An article relating to my project idea, an age group that has sadly been forgotten about during COVID. This is why my project idea is so important. To engage with our retirement customers and reach out to external charities and companies.
Feeling the strain of the lockdown period and it hasn’t been a week yet. My residents are moody and miserable, my son is extra difficult to manage and I feel extra anxious too.
I usually use external resources to manage my sons behaviour, built up energy and my own mood like swimming, cubs, gym and spa etc. With these activities closed when we get home from work there is no stimulation for him except his gaming which he would happily be on for hours upon hours. I am not willing to sacrifice his well being for the sake of me studying. Study is on hold for this week. Quite possibly untill life returns to somewhat if normality, I can feel myself getting overwhelmed so will be taking some well needed need down time in the evenings. Leaving work at work if that makes sense.
I managed to get onto a retirement property management conference last week which I thoroughly enjoyed. I felt I learnt a lot from it too! Typically on the last day of the conference and the day before the second national lockdown came into action. I ended up at A&E with my son who has broken another bone ! This time it’s his right finger! I feel sorry for the teachers is all I can say, however they seem to be managing him well so far. By giving him fun jobs to do at school like, listening and helping young children read. I love how teachers are so creative and admire those qualities. I really don’t think they get enough praise!!
Never mind .... currently tackling a joyful excel spreadsheet at work. Listing, labelling and describing all the assets in the building. I mean I didn’t even know what an asset was until this year, so I’m learning something 🤪
