Oh ok Twitter embeds work. Cool! So Aquat and I got the Twinkling Star Ribbon just now, which is, at the moment, the last ribbon I can get on her.

I’m not sure if I’ve shared screenshots of Aquat in Shining Pearl, so I’ll do that while I write out my current thoughts about Pokémon and what the future might hold.

These screencaps were taken at the beginning of the game, when I brought her in. Little did I know that the Twinkling Star Ribbon requires you to have beaten the game, and beyond that, if you want the best capsule stickers available to increase your odds of winning, you have to complete the Sinnoh Dex (seeing every Pokémon—to accomplish that after speeding through the game I just brought my living Dex from gens 1-4 except Nincada and Spinda who, for some reason, can’t be transferred from Home into Shining Pearl??) AND complete the Heatran storyline. And then you have to beat the League one time before your wins start awarding you the champion sticker.

It’s nuts. I don’t know if I would’ve gotten Shining Pearl if I knew it would take playing a game I didn’t want to play for THAT long. But it’s done now!

I’m not as interested in Pokémon anymore, to put it bluntly. Too much stuff going on in my life; the Pokémon games are coming out less and less polished, to the point where i feel disrespected as a consumer. I only got Shining Pearl about a year after release, and only to earn the ribbon on Aquat—but as it turns out, the cartridge will have a second purpose, which is to serve as storage for my gen 1-4 mons so I can stop paying the Home subscription, which is basically theft at this point.

As of now, there are 3 new ribbons that Aquat is locked out of, as well as the new earnable Marks, because Wailord isn’t in the newest releases. I’m not terribly upset about that because I am not currently planning on getting Legends Arceus nor ScaVio, and Aquat never had a full collection of ribbons to begin with. ScaVio does look fun to me despite the state it’s in so if Wailord ends up getting added via DLC, I will be happy to play through Scarlet eventually.
