Do you substitute ingredients? I wanted to make applesauce cake but didn’t have applesauce. So I made sauce from what I had (peaches and plums) and used it instead. Changed some of the seasonings and voila! This wonderful dessert. I’ve made it a few times now using different sauces and seasonings. I had leftover applesauce so .... I made this lovely cake. It’s soft with a crunchy top. Nice with coffee and if you need more, add a blob of ice cream. But it’s really good just plain.
