I have decided that I wish more anime/manga/tv shows, etc went for a continuity ending instead of a closure ending. Haikyuu had a continuity ending and honestly, its the ending of a manga that has fundamentally hurt me the least, same with demon slayer but I’m going to focus on Haikyuu. Basically I feel like a lot of media tries to wrap everything up, tie each relationship and interaction in a little bow, have the perfect ending, etc and it pretty much never works. And, I always feel sad and desperate reading them because it really feels like the end, like I’ve connected to these characters and now they simply don’t exist anymore, its over, done, and I can’t handle it.
Haikyuu though, Haikyuu went for a continuity ending, they showed us some of their future but they also displayed that the characters lives are going to go on. They have these jobs and these teams and they are living life to the fullest, but also they’re still the same. Oikawa will always come out of the left feild as a challenger, he’s not giving up and he’s gonna keep coming back because that’s who he is. It doesn’t matter who wins or loses he’s gonna come back because even though he’s had his moments, he really does love volleyball from the bottom of his heart and he wants to give it his all. Hinata and Kageyama are always going to fight, they’re going to strive to be the best, they’re going to compete. Be it in arbitrary games like who can make it to the gym fastest or a game on the world stage, they’re going to come back to each other. Orbit each other, because they’re rivals, and they love volleyball to a point of sane obsession. It’s counterintuitive but its repetitive, it’s something we know of these characters.
We know them so well we can guess what they’re going to do, and we can do it with some pretty good accuracy too. How many of us said daichi would be a police officer and suga would be a teacher. How many of us wholeheartedly screamed about streamer kenma and museum worker tsukishima. AND WE WERE RIGHT! It’s because of this continuous build up and acknowledgement of character and routine that when we close the final page of haikyuu we feel like it’s going to keep going, and we feel like it’s okay if we aren’t there to see if because we know from the bottom of our hearts they’ll be okay, because they’ll keep doing the things we all know they’re going to do because we love them, they love volleyball, and the mangaka loves us enough to give us continuity instead of closure.
note: this is just some sweet tooth fluff to make up for all the angsty things i’ve been posting hehe <3 it’s rlly short, i just couldn’t stop thinking about this

summary: you offer to re-dye your boyfriends hair for him.
ALTHOUGH he seemed to be so sure of it, you were having your doubts.
“are you sure you want to re-dye it? i think you look sexy.” you tilt your head, and he shakes his, snaking his arms around your waist as you straddle his lap.
according to your boyfriend, he had first dyed his hair way back in his second year of high school, but you went to seijoh, therefore never really meeting him until college.
however, by the time you did, he had already grown out of the blonde colour—and it only coated the tips of his hair.
“i think i like it better blonde.” he shrugs, pulling out his hair tie and letting his hair fall to his shoulders. “you don’t have to do it, you know? i can go to the hairstylist or something.”
“of course i wanna do it.” you pout, placing your forehead against his. “no way i’m gonna let some girl touch my baby’s hair.”
“shut up.” he teases, connecting your lips for a moment.
you crawl off of him and pull out all the necessary things from your shopping bag, before walking back over and standing behind his chair.
“are you not gonna sit on my lap and do it?” he questions, leading you to let out an airy chuckle.
“geez, no need to be so touchy.” you pinch his cheek, and he swats at you, helping you to crawl back onto his lap. “you’re gonna be so pretty when i’m done.” you coo, and he tilts his head in confusion.
“pretty?” he repeats, and you nod at him, nuzzling his nose. “but i thought only girls could be pretty?”
“nope, anyone can be pretty.”
you finished up his hair, before taking him to the bathroom sink and rinsing it out. afterwards, you took a hairdryer and fixed it up.
“ready, set, go!” you spinned his gamer chair around so that he could face the mirror, and a blush crawled up on his face as he took in his blonde hair. it was all deja vu.
“it’s nice.” he admits, giving you a peck on the cheek. “thank you.”
“such a pretty boy.” you pout, kissing him all over his face as you tackle each other and fall to the floor.
