I was two minds about posting this but then decided if it helps avoiding what happened to me happen to someone else then I felt I best post it.
When the Jeremy Renner app came out I decided to give a look and download it. I got the link through a friend who admins a Renner fan site and it looked pretty good. What happened next was very unexpected. As I tried to exit the app it conflicted with the launcher for my phone. It got stuck on an error loop and I was unable to uninstall either app. The error proved to be much bigger than I had anticipated as it corrupted the phone and all the data on it, including an important medical app.
I tried to access the phone files through my PC but it wasn’t picking up anything. Everything had been corrupted. Upset I tried to get hold of the app developer but had no joy. I then was able to get hold of some tech savvy friends who were able to help me get back at least 10% of my files/photos.
After nearly 12 hours, several friends and Samsung support I was, thankfully, able to factory reset restore my phone. I was worried at one point that I had a dead phone that I couldn’t really afford to replace. Unfortunately, I had lost most of my files, including my photos. Through my brother I was able to restore a further 30% of files as he was able to rescue the SD card. Another 10% was then saved through a photography friend. Sadly, I am still missing 50% of files/photos that I will never get back.
I did receive a response from the developer via the Play Store but it is generic and not entirely happy with it. I did send a further email explaining more and issuing a formal complaint but have heard nothing.
My advice to you if you do intend to get this app and you have a Samsung phone is to not use a launcher app with it especially GO Launcher. It appears that there is an incompatibility with the two apps that sadly leads to destructive results. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to enjoy the Jeremy Renner app and all the content that will come with it but I hope that those reading this will be able to and not experience a fault like I did.

*UPDATE* After getting rid of the Go Launcher I decided to give the Renner app another try. I was able to get onto it without any further corruption issues. I still have technical difficulties with the app (notifications disappearing) but it isn’t as disastrous as the initial try. However, do feel conflicted with the app as it has caused upset within the fandom which in my mind shouldn’t be what a fandom is about. Sadly, I was never able to retrieve the missing files/photos and the app developers minimal response left me feeling cold. If it wasn't for the amazing people I have met on it I probably would have gotten rid of it.
