HODAGRPG over at bsky did this OSR-style art of my Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game group exploring some ruins! I asked him to include our Loremaster, @infinitemachine in it somehow, so he is represented by the big statue with the book on the right!

i got them at a cute lil board game store in a city i went to purely to save $20 on dnd spell cards. it was a 45-minute drive, so i probably spent a decent chunk of money on gas. so what did i decide to do to make the trip worth the drive?

i found these inexpensive dice for my wood elf LotR character Aphadon; i play him in a TTRPG i play with a few friends every other tuesday on discord (so we roll electronic dice and i don't even need these physical dice for him but that's beside the point! i'm a dice goblin so i need them.) it took a while to hunt down green and brown dice but that's his aesthetic bc he's from Mirkwood. he's a glorified mailman-turned-adventurer who was sent to fight the shadow with three human traveling companions by his patron Gandalf (who the party is never able to hunt down for info except on ONE occasion smh dude's elusive)

He's an lotr elf so you'd think he'd be a baller archer but i always manage to roll abysmally on archery checks and pretty well on two-handed fighting, so now he's the party's SECOND fighter lol.

One of these days, i'm gonna commission real art of him but for now, enjoy a heroforge model of him

that last guy has kind of a uhhhh concave face but uh, whatever. i'm gonna turn these dudes into my LOTR TTRPG wood elf character, Aphadon. 😎 no, i have never painted a miniature in my LIFE. i have one wonky-looking figure i can use for practice, and i might use the archer as practice too, because he's wearing a helmet and Aphadon doesn't wear a helmet. it would mess up his beautiful hair, which none of these figures adequately represent, but we'll make do.

When I started out, I didn't really know what I wanted him to be, and I dumped a lot of points into strength AND stealth for a wood elf for some reason?? As time went on, I discovered that he is better at killing things than diplomacy, though he sucks at archery. A disgrace of an elf. He once participated in an archery tournament during a festival-type event, and Legolas was there and Aphadon botched virtually every shot he took. 😔 Some time after that, I chose to specialize him in dual-weapon fighting, hoping that that might be better for him. I think it may be so far?

As you can see, he's let his hair grow out and stopped styling it. He doesn't have the time for hair maintenance right now. He's also in his summer clothes. 💁 I would have given him longer hair since it's been so long, but Hero Forge's long hairstyles all interfered with his backpack and for some reason it felt important for him to be carrying shit???

Anyway. If my finances stabilize anytime soon, I'm going to commission an OSR-style drawing of him from hodagrpg.bsky.social like I did for Iago, my chaotic but awkward af Shadowdark guy that we just finished (and all survived!) our adventure for. Hodag's rates are VERY affordable, btw! I highly encourage you to message him if you're into OSR/B&W drawings.
