Ready to growl….

ALPENA, MICHIGAN (July 24, 2019) -- United States Navy EA-18G Growlers from Electronic Attack Squadron 136 (VAQ-136) -- also known as "The Gauntlets" -- based out of Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, WA -- sit on the flight line at sunrise at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center....

....ready to cross-train with the Michigan National Guard in a United States Air National Guard training exercise.

I wrote with only the deepest respect in mind. As a retired Surface Warfare Officer (”ship-driver”), I realize us “black shoes” are in our own world. (<<For all my non-U.S. Navy readers: that’s now professional legend among officers in the U.S. Navy aviation and surface communities....stemming from the off/on decades when Naval aviators wore brown shoes with their khaki working uniforms, while the Navy surface ship community wore black shoes....OK, so you had to be there!)
