I like to believe AP-5 & Threepio do not like each other at all (at first). They are very bitchy to each other and AP-5 likes to mess with Threepio.
But as time goes on, AP starts to think it's just the fun of their relationship. He sort of, in a funny way, treats Threepio like a sibling. Threepio still thinks AP hates him though.
They're different but actually very similar too. It takes time for them to learn how to have a friendship. They genuinely enjoy being huge bitches to each other.
