"Chiptunes = Win" was a bandcamp page that gave out lots of free chiptune compilations that shut down a couple of years ago. Since then, it's been hard to find some of the music that used to be in those albums on youtube so I thought I'd upload a few that aren't already present (according to the searches I did). I've got all of the albums, but I'v only had the time to listen  a couple so far: HalloWIN and Chiptunes=Win Volume 1. I really liked some of the tracks on HalloWIN - not surprising considering my love of both chiptunes and spooky music - so I'll be uploading some of my faves from that one for your listening pleasure. "Final Battle" is a fun one to me because of its intensity. Very SEGA Genesis-esque, with a bit of an 8-bit metal feel to it as well.

Announcing the Retro Game Audio Podcast!
We’re back! In pog podcast form!Â
After a long hiatus from this blog, and chip music stuff in general, I’d been considering returning with a renewed interested in podcast-form. However, I hadn’t really given it serious consideration until after I met Steve Lakawicz at a show recently in Philly.
Steve has a blog that also took a break, Classical Gaming, which has a lot of great content with a similar theme to the sort of stuff I posted here and on explod-blog. After talking about video game music with him for a while, I realized I’d found a great potential co-host. He also makes excellent music under the name Ap0c, which I highly recommend checking out.Â
Our first episode will be a close up look a specific NES soundtrack, doing a track-by-track analysis of the sound design, and it should likely be up on Thursday:

Nerd Music Releases - December 2015
Nerd Music Releases – December 2015
As we hit the end of December and the year that was 2015, a ton a music came out from the nerd music community. It is very likely that there was more new music out in December than in any month this year. Maybe even the rest of the year COMBINED. It was certainly hard to listen to everything so I didn’t even try. But seriously, there were some real whoppers that came out to end the year.
Let’s…

Yey! It ain't St. PatSHREK's Day anymore but it doesn't mean we can't enjoy a non-Metallica cover of Whiskey in the Jar. Also some troll stuff too. Like this? Check out the rest of the comp here - https://chiptuneswin.bandcamp.com/album/celt-tunes-win
Here's my entry for Chiptunes = Win Volume 3! For the full compilation album, head here: https://chiptuneswin.bandcamp.com/album/chiptunes-win-volume-3 Artwork by Nate Horsfall - www.lightningarts.com This track was created with Famitracker 0.4.3 using 2a03+VRC6. DPCM samples are utilized. It was recorded directly from console to make it all nice and authentic. Yey! This track closes the book on the whole "ap0c writing about dreams thing" and really searches for that last little bit of inspiration on the topic. I hope you enjoy it!
