I was wondering if you could do me a Aokise fic? I had this idea where Kise is colour-blind and has never seen any colours before. And Aomine (the awesome bf he is) spends all his savings on getting Kise those glasses allowing colour-blind to see colour (like all the videos going around). And Kise basically starts bawling his eyes out when he puts 'these strange glasses' on and starts obsessing over all the colours he can now see (especially over a particular shade of blue)!
(Sorry this is so late. It took me a while to figure out what glasses you were talking about and for me to churn out some aokise. I know it’s also like an hour late for it, but happy aoki day!
Aokise is always inspired in some way by @limitlessmonster)
“Aominecchi, I’m home!”
Aomine jumps, fumbling with the small, rectangular box he had been holding in his hands. Much to his dismay, it falls straight for the toilet bowl. But luck must be on his side today because it hits the edge and bounces onto the rug laid out on the tiled floor.
Heaving a sigh of relief, Aomine bends down to snatch the box off the ground and flips the toilet lid shut as he straightens up. The last thing he needs is another lecture from Kise about how rude it is to leave the lid up.
He stares at the box in his hand for another minute more before he slips it into his back pocket and exits the bathroom.
“You in the living room?” He calls from the hall as he makes his way toward the sound of a ruffling jacket.
“Thanks for the welcome home!” Kise calls back.
Aomine chuckles. He can almost hear the pout in Kise’s voice. When he turns the corner, he snatches Kise’s arm and pulls him into an embrace, grinning at the surprise that flickers across his face. He presses a soft kiss to his lips and breathes, “Welcome home.”
Kise smiles against his lips and snakes his arms around Aomine’s waist. “Now that’s more like it.” Aomine feels Kise’s hands dip lower aiming straight for the back pockets of his jeans. “I’m going to have to teach you to–”
Shit…
Kise’s brow quirks and Aomine can’t step away fast enough. Kise already has the box in his hand, holding it up like an accusation between them.
“Aominecchi,” Kise frowns, his voice stern. “Were you trying to hide something from me?”
He had gone over how to give the box to Kise more times than he can count. Getting down on one knee is too close to a proposal and as comfortable as they are with one another, he’s definitely not ready for that. Word vomiting some cheesy explanation didn’t sit well with him either. The contents of the box needed to be experienced in a way that he didn’t have the words to describe.
With a sigh, he grips the nape of his neck and offers a sheepish, apologetic grin. “Yeah, sorta?” He shrugs. “I mean, it’s not a secret or anything. I just didn’t really know how to give it to you.”
Kise’s face brightens and he eyes the box with the curiosity and excitement of a child. “You bought me something?”
Aomine rolls his eyes. “No, I bought something for another stupid model that I’m dating.” He lifts his hands when Kise scowls and adds, “Yes, I bought you something. Just open the damn box, will ya?” He won’t admit that he’s nervous about the way the gift will be received.
With a huff, Kise relents. Aomie knows his curiosity wouldn’t have held for much longer anyway. He pulls the lid off the black box and carefully unfolds the microfiber cloth nestled within. A pair of unassuming, tinted glasses sits inside and Kise stares at them, fingers hovering over the corners of the lenses.
Aomine can see Kise’s confusion as much as he can sense it.
“Sunglasses?” Kise asks as he lifts them out of the box. “You know, as much as I appreciate the thought, I have… a lot of sunglasses.”
Aomine snorts. “Yeah, don’t I know it.” Kise’s impressive collection of sunglasses takes up an entire drawer in the dresser they bought for their room. “But they aren’t sunglasses, idiot.”
Kise holds them up for Aomine to see, as if he wasn’t the one who bought them. “Uh… They’re tinted.”
“I can see that, asshole.”
“Only sunglasses are tinted, Aominecchi. So if you ordered regular glasses then you were kinda-”
“Ryouta.”
Kise falls silent at the use of his given name.
“Will you just be the model that you are and model the damn glasses for me?”
It takes a moment for him to comply, but Kise eventually pushes his hair back from his face and flicks open the end pieces. “Fine,” he grumbles. “But when the world is a slightly darker shade and I’m proven right then you–”
Kise draws in a sharp breath as he slips the glasses onto his face and Aomine holds back a smile. For so long he’s wondered how he could bring color to Kise’s world. Kise never seemed to mind the fact that he was colorblind. He had been unable to see color all his life so he didn’t feel like he was missing out on anything. But the fact that someone with a personality as colorful as Kise’s hadn’t experienced color for themselves didn’t sit well with Aomine. So when color correcting glasses were introduced, he started a small, secret fund.
They aren’t a permanent fix, he amends, but they’re a way to give Kise’s world the splash of color it needs.
“Aominecchi, these…” Kise turns to face Aomine and his jaw drops. “Your-” He takes a step forward and reaches up to run his fingers through Aomine’s hair. “Your hair… It’s–”
Aomine glances up at him and Kise gasps again. “Your eyes…” He moves his hands to Aomine’s face, his thumbs brushing over the curve of his cheeks. “They’re–”
Aomine waits for Kise to say it, but the silence that hangs between them is long enough for him to realize that Kise doesn’t know the right word for it.
He places a hand over Kise’s and grins. “Blue,” he tells him. “They’re blue.”
Tears well up in Kise’s eyes. He can see them even through the tint of the glasses. With a soft smile, he reaches forward to brush them away.
“Don’t cry, idiot.” He shakes his head and watches the way Kise follows the movement of his hair. It had been getting a little long for his liking. “How are you supposed to see all the colors if you cry like that?”
Kise makes a noise that sounds like a cross between a snort and a sniffle as he shoves against Aomine’s shoulder. “Stupid Aominecchi.”
Aomine catches his hand and pulls Kise forward. “So, do you like them?” He asks, a question he’s been dying to know the answer to all day.
Kise’s eyes widen, his shock evident. “Do I–” He laughs. “You’re so stupid… Do I like them? I–” With a smile, places a hand on Aomine’s cheek again, his thumb tracing the same path as it had moments ago. He stares into Aomine’s eyes and Aomine can see him memorizing the color, the details he hadn’t been able to see before. “I love them.”
Aomine grins, his heart thundering in his chest. “Good.” He slides his hand down Kise’s arms until he can link their fingers. “So, what do you say we go experience some real color and head to that aquarium you said you wanted to go to?”
Kise’s face lights up and he gives Aomine’s hand a squeeze. “Really?”
“Well, since you can see color now, I won’t have to worry so much about you mistaking one of those damn tanks for dry land. The colors are very different, trust me.”
