We promised you a sneak peek at ‘An Otaku’s Guide to Santa’s Reindeer’  So for a very special Mother’s Day treat [UK] here is a snippet of the main theme. The main theme has a full version and a piano version. 

We are totally in love with it but we are bias after all.

General Update

❄ Art - This is starting to feel like the cursed update. So, long story short is the CG artist is currently having technical difficulties and is requesting some assistance with CG coloring. If you are available to get your colour on then our emails are open for CG colorists applications. 

This art update isn’t all doom and gloom since we have previews to show you. We just got an additional expression for Donder. A lot of you really loved that he had a heart of gold beneath all that flirting so we had to get an expression to match this. You will have to wait until Christmas to unwrap this expression. We aren’t going to leave you completely empty-handed and have a preview of a CG. Can you guess what route this belongs to? 

❄ Route Scripts - Sadly we have lost a writer. It happens especially during finals and the winter blues and what not. Thankfully we have been in contact with some new applicants so we should be able to keep the ball rolling and hit our writing deadlines. However, if you are a writer and would like to commit to writing for AOGTSR then our emails are open to writer applications once again.

Found this super cute Let’s Play by @spaceygh0st the other day and we wanted to share it with you all.

Zino is working on a new set of sprites. Can you guess who for? They are small and always seem to be standing on boxes... at least that is what we will be saying when we cheat with their heights in game. If we didn’t you might not be able to see them through the GUI.

What do you think of these little guys? And what would be some totally holly elf names for them?

Comet’s route outline is complete and ready to go into the writing stage. Dasher’s and Vixen’s route are in the writing stage. Cupid and Donder route outlines are still underway.

A reminder that we have a special opportunity for fans to submit spoken lines for any of the reindeer and MC. So far, we’ve received a lot around the subject of antlers... 0-0

... Ya’ll  really want to know more ‘bout that, huh? Lol. Well, we will just have to wait and see what information about that particular subject makes its way in game.

Open Positions on AOGTSR

Background Artist - This is our top priority. If you are willing to join as our BG artist you will NOT be required to redraw or style match any of the current BGs. We would like for you to focus on creating the new BGs. This can be discussed further with whoever feels like helping us out.

Programmer - We’ve decided to look for another programmer to join the team to help keep progress moving on both AOGTSR & SSWK. We currently use Ren’Py and would want anyone who applies to have experience with this program, especially with programming in voice files.

Writers - We still have routes available that need writers. We also understand that this is a big commitment and so it is possible to become a co-writer where you will share the writing responsibility with one of our core writers. GXB & GXG routes available

Routes still Available for Lead Writers: Rudolph, Blitzen, Prancer & Dancer. Possibly Donder.

Routes Available for Co-writers: Rudolph, Blitzen, Prancer, Dancer, Donder, Vixen, Comet & Cupid.

We will also be looking for a Script Editor and Audio/Voice Editors in the near future. Perhaps even a Composer for some festive music but that’s just our Christmas wish…

So, we could have done an AMA Reindeer style but, honestly, all you have to do is send us a message on Tumblr and chances are we’d do that anyway.  If you really want an reindeer to reply then just put @ and then the reindeer’s name.

ANYWAY...

...instead of that, we've decided to do something a little more involved for our AOGTSR promo event. This is your chance to be a part of the process and submit lines for each of our characters to feature in 'An Otaku’s Guide to Santa’s Reindeer’.

All you have to do is fill in the survey with as many or as few lines as you want. You can do this as many times as you wish and are not limited to one submission.

Depending on the turn out we can’t promise ALL submitted lines will make it into the final game. If your line is chosen we will be presenting in-game screenshots of it on our tumblr. 

To add to that Kira also suggested that another way of getting-past-blocks for writing is using Alternate Universes. She gave the example of, 

"Ranking the reindeers' grades if they were to take a history exam on the world" 

...and we had a lot of fun coming up with an answer.

Comet: If he ever gets less than 100% you will be sure he will pretend it’s not a big deal. Claiming he has other priorities and can’t be bothered with small things like tests. Joint First

Dancer: She did a few questions then decided she no longer wanted to do it and so walked out. She didn’t feel like wasting her time on something like that FAILED

Prancer: Gets 100% without even trying. He even finished early and was allowed to leave with an hour still left on the test. When asked if he studied he will say he didn’t but will be able to recite every lecture from memory like some human robot. Joint First

Cupid: Kept getting distracted and then had to blindly rush to finish at the end. He’s a little disappointed in himself but will probably still ask for a treat for at least passing. Fourth

Vixen: Will forget to write her name on the paper but would have gotten a good score if she remembered [Probably second]. She’s pretty cheery about her would be grade even though it doesn’t count. DISQUALIFIED 

Dasher: Will pretend not to be disappointed.  "Well... what can I say? I'm more of a feelzy guy. It's Comet's job to be the brains around here." The Sad thing is he was up studying a lot the night before. Yeah, he left it till the last minute to cram but he tried and that is the important part. FAILED

Donder: Will be very happy he did better than Dasher and want to see his brother’s score. Prancer will reprimand him for being intrusive and remind him that it doesn’t matter which of them did better. Donder: Why ‘coz you aced it? Fifth

Blitzen: Won’t show anyone her grade and will take it to her grave. Second

Rudolph:  Will try really hard and be happy when he barely passes. He will also be happy for everyone else. Will get a higher score than Dasher and not want to show him but Dasher is really proud and gives him a hair ruffle. Comet will chide him about studying harder. Sixth

Survey || Thanks to everyone who has given us feedback via the survey. We really appreciate your views and it’s really helped to form the routes and keep the whole team motivated. Your continuous support is felt by everyone on the team. 

As you can see quite a bit has changed since our last survey and it’s really interesting reading your comments on each of the reindeer and their personalities. I wonder if these scores will stay the same once the full game is released.

New Writers || We welcome Kisa, Megan & Maria to the team as route writers. Plotting routes are well underway and with new writers come a tonne of new ideas that we are excited to start writing. 

Translations || We’ve also been working on getting the demo script translated into Spanish & Polish. This is great, we always want to make sure that our games are available to fans in their mother tongue. Great job Emilio & Emilia!
