I realized I should give monthly updates on the game I'm working on. It will also be where I drop some of my thoughts on the project so far.
So for updates, I think we'll format it as "What I got done so far" then "What I'm currently working on" and lastly "Struggles I need to figure out" (But Struggles may leak into the other parts) And if anything like a random section that doesn't fit into the other things.
This project has already been in the works for a year, but thats because I originally wanted it to be in 3D, and I've never made 3D models before- I have scrapped that and have gone full on into 2d hand drawn animation! (I wanted it to look like my style, and now it will!)
Now I have ADHD so hopefully this helps me keep on track. I need schedules and times to get things done by or else nothing will get done. I also have a date I want to shoot for to release the game on. (Mainly because the games style hasn't been since since 1987, and I think it would be funny to release it on the 40th Anniversary of that game (If you can guess the game without looking it up, go for it!))
So far I got half the movement code 100% finished. This game has 2 styles of gameplay, so one is totally done, the other on the other hand will have a LOT more connected to it. So the easier one is done.
I got all the movement animations done except a death animation and a second dodge animation!
I got half the normal attacking animations done. (Normal Attack and Jumping attack, I need a crouch attack and maybe an up or down slash)
I have a sketch for the intro cutscene half finished. I want to add more to it, but my animation program is crying, so I'll have to make a second file for it.
I redid my outline for what I need to do to get the game done on time! Mainly because I did a dumb and flippen put my "Finish Maps" before my trip to go get Map References XD oooof. This months goals are "Finish Movement Code! (Maybe Attacking Code too) - Work on Intro Animation - Finish Voice Line Script" If I finish this and start working on next months goals, that will be really good!
I've been working on the Voice Line Script, I plan for only these to have voice acting. It's almost done! I also will eventually need to cast people, and I have a few people in mind. I'm also currently building a recording booth! :D
I have so many documents with so many different things in it. The main plot outline, the controls, the vibes I plan for the dungeons.
I've also already made assets for the UI and Menu! (Not all done though)
Alrighty! Moving onto; What I'm currently working on.
I'm working on getting ideas for Side Quests with a friend. I got the main quest figured out, but Side Quests are stuff I myself don't care to do, so I'm getting help from a friend who is really good to bounce Ideas off of!
That Recording Booth for clean audio. I've been meaning to put something together for a while, but just never had the time to. I will be actively trying to get that finished.
Learning how to code. (Sobs)
And I'm working on more scripting stuff.
And finally; Struggles I need to figure out!
I did put earlier "Learning how to code" Yeah so, I've never coded, but I can 100% do literally everything else in this project by myself. I can draw, script, design, voice act, write and compose my own music, everything, except to code! (No ai help) So I'm learning to code, and the way I want abilities to work there is no tutorial out there to help me, so I'll have to really learn it and make something. Which just needs a minute for me to actually read through stuff and so on. (I'm a smart cookie, I got this) BUT IF YOU KNOW HOW TO CODE- Any tips?? I'm currently making this on Godot, I tried Unity, but I haaated how the animation player worked, and Godot's was waaay better. Also coding button controls is way easier in Godot as well. I really did look into more than these two options, but yeah.
Godot's Jitters. I have learned the name of this problem and its "Jitters" I've followed multiple tutorials on how to get rid of them, and the problem is that I don't know how to! It's just not working! AAHHH-
The only problem with the date I want to game to come out on to is that I won't have a lot of time to Beta test things and fix stuff... Hmm, I'll have to keep close eye on stuff and make sure I don't fumble things.
If you guys have any questions or suggestions please tell me! I have a full title for the game and everything (That isn't Balled, that's just what I'm going to call it until the name is revealed lmao) I also need to make the Title screen lol, totally forgot to put that in the schedule! Anyways! Until next update! :D
