thinking about how people who aren’t a-spec tend to interpret asexuality as a lack of sexuality, when that really isn’t it at all. i see people assume all the time that if someone’s asexual, then they can’t be interested in sexual topics, can’t have kinks, can’t be horny, can’t become aroused, can’t masturbate, can’t have sex or do other sexual things, can’t want to have sex or do other things, just can’t have a sexuality, period.

the “a”, the “without”, in “asexuality” refers to attraction, not to sexuality as a whole. like other orientations, it only describes who you’re attracted to, not anything else. if someone tells you they’re asexual, all you know is that they don’t feel sexual attraction to anyone. every ace person relates to their sexuality on an individual and different level. any one ace might feel/do any, all, or none of the the things i listed in the first paragraph. and that’s okay and good, no matter what what that combination or lack thereof is!

i just want people to understand that a lack of attraction doesn’t mean a lack of sexuality.
