Literature, like the old classics. Shakespeare maybe. my mum has a lit degree and used to work in publishing and I swear she’s read every book and she just knows so much about them all and it’s very admirable, I would love to be the same, but I would need to take a break from re-reading asoiaf and jackie collins novels and trash paper backs I find at jumble sales which seems to be the only thing I can get through lmao

coffee, I have drunk 2 cups of tea in my life, one was bad and the other i loaded up with sugary just to get through it, and even then I didn’t like it because I made it too sugary

I agree with everything here and I’m curious about how it’s been determined the show is set in the 90’s?

Because of the unique mix of technology, the Jewish calendar, and when Handler was originally writing the series, the 1990s are the decade that the series takes place in. For both the books and the TV show. 

There are few other times in history where you have such a dramatic clash in technology (the internet’s available, but people are using typewriters and you can still find a telegraph) that is accepted as a part of every day life and isn’t remarkable. The thing that is remarkable is the “Advanced Computer System” which looks like something straight out of the 90s. 

If you want to view it as taking place in the 1990s in a universe with similar struggles that our world faced (perhaps different names, but similar ideas), then that places the adults (Lemony, Beatrice, Bertrand gen) as being on the cusp of being Baby Boomers and Gen X - the era of latchkey children and depleted resources. It would certainly explain the odd dynamics in ATWQ. After the baby boom, everyone was just exhausted. 

Qwerty’s punk rock get up in ATWQ places the events in the 1970s at the earliest, so that lines up well with ASOUE taking place in the 1990s. 

What happened?

so basically I was at a live taping of one of my favorite podcasts (x-plain the x-men) and the two guests were chris claremont and louise simonson. during the hour claremont proceeded to:

a) talk over louise at every opportunity

b) expound at length about how the movie process works, as though no one in the room understood the concept of special effects and basic editing procedure

c) act as though he and he alone saved comics and everything that came after has been without redeeming qualities

d) trash talk the new young jean grey

e) make a weird joke about bobby being gay (??)

f) talking about thor and making a weird “and I guess he’s a girl now?” comment

g) praising the ghost in the shell’s handling of whitewashing

h) went on at length about the movie valerian, for some reason

there’s probably other stuff I’m forgetting, it was a very weird hour and honestly I spent most of the time watching one of the poor hosts’ faces every time something happened, this barely restrained “oh no, oh no” expression

Hello there!

I haven’t personally made a plus-sized bunnysuit, but the process should mostly be the same. The major difference here is going to be the amount and type of structure you add.

A large part of the fit of a suit will depend on your particular body type in addition to size – if you are hourglass vs. apple, etc. You may not need large bust considerations, or you may need to pattern for a different fat distribution pattern (such as a larger stomach or a larger butt), but a lot of that is taken care of in the patterning itself, since it’ll be custom fitted. If you have any areas with a particularly large difference, such as a much larger butt than your waist, you may need to add additional seams or gussets in order to get the curve to fit correctly. 

Generally, you are likely to want additional boning channels (you can add some short ones between the longer ones I outline in the panel), and if you want to disguise the front of your stomach more, you will want to angle the boning (and possibly the front princess seams on the interlining – you’ll have to experiment with a couple of mockups) to create more of a V shape in the front. You may also want to take into consideration the large bust structure outlined in the panel, and possibly add some shorter boning channels that end underneath the bustline in addition to the channels that may go over the bustline. Basically, while the boning isn’t going to add the support or any reduction on its own, combined with a snug fit (and a curvy fit, if that’s what you are going for) and the fabrics used, the boning will give additional support to the fabric. 

For additional bust support, you can also build a bra band (or bra band like structure) on the inside of the suit and close it before you zip the suit for an extra layer of support.

If you want a significant waist reduction (at any size), I’d recommend wearing a corset underneath a bunnysuit. You will still need boning in the suit to keep its shape, but not as much, and you can likely use a thinner interlining layer, since it won’t have to hold structure in quite the same way (but still give the appearance of structure). The suit itself isn’t meant to reduce your waist much at all (though you may be able to go a little bit smaller in the waist if you are mostly squish and not mostly firm), but with an actual corset underneath or built into the suit, you can help enhance or create curves and make sure everything is as smooth as possible.

You will want to wear shapewear underneath. You will also want to wear dance tights (flesh-tone or colored), but that goes for any size. If you can’t find tights in your size, the microfiber tights from We Love Colors are a good option (though they have a very limited skin tone selection), and The Big Tights Company specializes in plus-sized hosiery.
