ran doesn't deserve shinichi tbh

I loved Detective Conan for a long time now, but often I feel really awkward in the fandom for the ships I like. I so often see posts like "everyone ships shinran (even if it's problematic)" and I really don't. I used to ship it when I first started out, but now I don't see the appeal of it anymore. It makes me feel really bad for the ships I do like and I often feel very isolated. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade and it's ok to like it, but I feel shamed a lot for not liking/shipping it.

To me Bisexual Ran makes more sense than "ShinichiSexual" Ran.

Whenever I tell people who ship ShiRan that I ship KaiShin, they ask me why I don’t ship canon pairings. And everytime I explain to them that to me the relationship between Shinichi and Ran is unhealthy because of the amount of distrust, lying and generally just not talking about their feelings. While Kaito and Shinichi are a thief and a detective, they trust each other and have helped each other many times. They generally like each other even if they are “enemies”, and I can’t recall a single time they lied to each other about something not involving the current heist, Each of them also has an organization after them, so they understand each other. The fact that Kaito realized that Conan is Shinichi while Ran still hasn’t figured it out just proves that.

I really wish that Ran wasn't in love with Shinichi. They are so terrible for each other, and she deserves better.

Though I like the character of Ran, I get annoyed with all of the openings and endings revolving around her and Shinichi’s relationship. Their relationship has been stagnant and repetitive for so long that it feels jarring when the openings and endings prioritize the romance over other aspects of the show that are currently more important.

I really don’t like ShinRan, just simply because it’s a high school relationship. I don’t think they’d ever be anything long-term, they would get on each other’s nerves too much. And Ran deserves so much better than him.
