I am antisexualist because I have discovered that sex is used for only 2 purposes: pleasure and procreation. This world has a lot of problems because it has an extremely large human population that has polluted and caused conflict for far too long. In order for the population to decrease, people must stop reproducing (for a while at least.) Sex that is not used for reproductive purposes is similar to drug abuse. People spend money and time on it and what do they get ? Temporary pleasure. Nothing more. Protected sex is a waste of time and money. Unprotected sex damages the world, one human birth at a time.
That being said, I'm not anti-romance or anti-relationships. I think that if people were genuinely looking for someone that they felt deeply in-tune with and compatible with, rather than someone who would agree to engage in whichever sexual acts they prefer at the time, relationships would last much longer and be much healthier. I've always disliked the idea that an act which is supposed to be the foundation of intimacy in a relationship can feel better with one person than with another simply because the first person has more "practice" or is comfortable with a wider range of acts. The fact that anyone can induce sexual pleasure in another person, whether there is love or not, really disturbs me. The idea of sex and the unfairness of "this person is this endowed, and that person has these discomforts and this person only orgasms if XYZ happens" takes all the romance out of the idea of falling in love for me.
I've mostly seen sex be about egos, power, and control in my life too. The fact that love is based on the exchange of favors seems really wrong to me. And unlike what the "pro-sex asexuals" seem to think, ALL OF US are affected by the cultural obsession with sex. You can't watch a movie or read a book where sex, romance, and the pursuit of it isn't present. You can hardly have a social relationship with someone, especially of the opposite sex, without sex being an issue at some point. Sex is never an "equal" action - it requires someone to use force over someone else's body, and porn is just an exaggeration of that basic fact, so the person used as the object in this situation is degraded as low as possible in new and more shocking ways just to keep it "interesting". What kind of mental state must someone be in to want to be degraded OR to degrade someone else? It hardly seems like a healthy state of mind to me and any kind of relationship with such an obvious lack of respect disgusts me. Maybe this is a symptom of a greater failure of society, that people are using sex to fulfill their otherwise empty lives.
