Three months, he whispers, aghast, at the half-moon spectacled face in the Floo.

Three months, he sobs, grieving, in the iron of Sirius's arms as he chases his release for the fifth time that night.

Three months, he snarls, as he snatches the portkey from the old man's hand, white-faced. He'll be counting.

[OOC: Severus has done some fucked up things. But that was completely justified! Lupin forgot to take his potion, and then students were put in danger.

There is some trauma here. I’ll address that first. Severus was almost killed by Lupin when he was a child and then blackmailed into keeping the secret. 

His life was, in his eyes, worth less than Lupin’s secret to Dumbledore. And, if he WAS killed, Dumbledore would have still kept things under wraps. So he probably isn’t wrong. Now, a similar situation comes up, but he has power. Of course he’s doing something about the situation. I’d be more surprised if someone didn’t.

But taking out the trauma element, this decision was STILL justified! Think about it this way. Remus forgot to take it once because something important came up. And then students almost get killed. Dumbledore does NOTHING!

Students almost died because their professor forgot to take a potion on time. Does Dumbledore make arrangements to prevent this? Of course not. He’s Dumbledore. 

You know the secret. You KEPT it for about 18(Sirius’ “prank” happened in fifth year, before SWM. Makes SWM a lot more fucked up, but separate thing) years.

Now, students were put in danger. Dumbledore won’t do shit. What do you do? Do you keep it and hope this doesn’t happen again? No, because if this happened once, it could happen again. And you might not be able to put yourself between your students and a bloodthirsty creature. Students could die. It would be on you.

You tell the secret! Because that is the only thing you CAN do in this situation. If you don’t, students will probably die.

Dumbledore doesn’t seem to feel like this was an issue, so doing nothing isn’t an option. You could talk to Dumbledore or your coworkers about it, but Dumbledore has shown he doesn’t care and your coworkers are much closer to him and probably won’t do anything either.

So telling the secret to the students is the only thing you can do to keep them safe.

I’m glad you feel the same way! Honestly, the more I watch Harry potter, the more my horror at how Hogwarts is run increases. 10/10 would LOVE to see Gandalf whip the place into shape and adopt Harry Potter as his 100th kid. 

it would also be hilarious if he brought over other LOTR characters to help run the school. Galadriel teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts. Bilbo teaches Literature. Elrond teaches Ancient Runes and also Divination, But, Like, The Correct Version. Radagast teaches Care of Magical Creatures. The school has 0 injuries and Ravenclaw actually wins the House Cup for once because Gandalf isn’t having any of that favoritism bullcrap and the Ravenclaws are THRIVING under Elrond’s leadership.

Although I’ve been told that my teenage self was very much like Hermione (the good and the bad parts, haha) Ron is my favourite character because I am a sucker for good development and I actually liked the themes that JK explored with Ron because he isn’t a bad person, he’s an extremely loyal friend, he can be a bit insensitive at times although he’s never unkind, he ultimately does the right thing and he doesn’t live an affluent life and yet benefits from and — until the last book (that development) perpetuates wizarding privilege. I also love the way he struggles because it’s realistic and very human, he has understandable jealousies and resentments and insecurities and sometimes he’s an ass, I mean he’s a teenage boy, that’s OK because he grows with each book.

I’m anti-Snape, it’s not like an active hatred but no, I don’t think he’s a noble person. He legit terrorized students, Neville’s boggart was Snape, like how traumatized does a child have to be that his teacher becomes a boggart, and bullied Harry because he hated James. The fact that he was a double agent is legit the least he could do particularly when his motivations aren’t even rooted in the fact that Voldermort’s ideology was wrong, Voldermort just killed a woman Snape happened to have feelings for — and I also like how his love for Lily was enough for him to ensure Harry wouldn’t die but not enough to not treat him like shit?
