How would you design an anthro hagfish?
what level of anthro are we talking about here lol. When it comes to creatures that already have limbs and some manner of recognizable facial features, it's a little easier to find a happy medium between "human with some creature traits" and "sapient creature", but hagfish are pretty far away from that umbrella. you can tell which side has a mouth and which side is the tail, and that's about all they got for recognizable features.
so I guess, on a scale of "sapient hagfish" to "humanoid with some hagfish traits", what's your goal?

and if you want hagfish people to interact with other people, don't forget their incredible slime powers. a startled hagfish person will just ooze with thick slime, so they're going to have to be cautious around other people to avoid causing slime incidents lol.
