ONLY LOVE | LOVE ONLY Today I finished responding to 170 Facebook posts, comments, and messages wishing me a happy birthday. That's 170 people who thought of me, even just for a moment. People who took time out of their day to show they cared. A lot of people might see Facebook birthday stuff and cynically point out who they haven't spoken to in years or who forgot to comment; I try my best not to. Instead, I do my best to sit down, thoughtfully read each post, and picture that person in my mind as if they were sitting right next to me. I find that by slowing down and responding to each comment, my gratitude grows and grows. • I want to (on social media and in real life) be more fully present with people and to exude only love. A big way I want to do this is to spend more time alone. To not use people to pass the time but instead to be completely content with myself and have any interaction with others be a special occasion every time. This means being more intentional, taking my time, saying no. (Thanks @firstyearqueer !) • This photo is from breakfast with my dear friend and colleague @cmeiners who is constantly encouraging me, challenging me, and comforting me. She is an example of the kind of friend who is there for me in all states of Hot Mess, which is something everyone deserves. (Yes, you too.) With her, I know there is only love between us. Bi babes brunching... what's better than that? • #summerinasnap #svadyaya #anthrocontest @anthro_minnesota @anthro_minnesota #brunch #friends #friendship #onlylove #presence #happybirthday #facebook #socialmedia #connection #sangha #breakfastfood (at The Original Pancake House)
