First—her extremely strong, sudden anger at Chase. She goes from zero to a hundred when she sees Chase at Heaven on Ice. It’s very reactive, but she doesn’t really explain why it bothers her so much (beyond what he did to her brother). She doesn’t reflect on her feelings deeply — she just acts.

Her internal narration is more action-based than emotion-based!! While she’s narrating, she doesn’t often describe her feelings in emotional terms. She tells us what she does — avoids Chase, plots revenge, works on the video project — but rarely tells us how she feels in nuanced terms.

Difficulty with emotional nuance regarding Chase—I think the most important aspect As she starts to kind of forgive Chase, she still seems confused or conflicted. She notices her feelings changing but doesn't label or explore them much. She even calls it “maddening” how she’s starting to like him despite everything. That could point to trouble recognizing emotional shifts in herself. She focuses on logic and fairness more than feelings

Shoshanna is very justice-driven. She wants what’s fair for Joel and reacts strongly when she feels that fairness is being denied. Her emotional reasoning is often tied to rules or morality rather than empathy or personal emotion. This could reflect a difficulty engaging directly with her feelings.

though I do see the arguments against this.

Shoshanna does express emotion — especially anger and indignation — and takes emotional action (things like avoiding Chase, sabotaging him). She’s not emotionally flat! Her change in attitude toward Chase shows that she does grow emotionally. While she may not narrate it in great detail, it’s clear she’s aware something’s changing in her — she’s just uncomfortable with it. Which is fine! :))

She’s socially adept — she works well with Brendan, communicates with her family, and doesn’t seem confused by others' feelings. Many people with alexithymia do struggle with social-emotional cues, though not all. (Very important to consider that not all people with Alexithymia act the same.)

The reason I dislike Cozette’s portrayal, MAINLY FOR CHASE , is because she GAVE HIM NPD? “Narc Chase”. Selfish. You mean selfish. Narcissism is a fucking mental disorder. Also! On Gordon korman’s blog he literally confirmed Chase doesn’t have NPD (https://gordonkorman.com/forum?t=27655) so her hc is invalid! Also, headcanoning that is extremely abelist because chases main arc is a REDEMPTION ARC and he shows NO “narcissistic tendencies” since the fall, her headcanon makes it seem like NPD can be “cured” and makes you a bad person. THATS WHY I HATE IT. it sickens me to see disorders still stigmatized to this day. It makes it seem like if you have NPD you’re automatically a terrible person. And that suddenly you don’t have it after having a traumatic experience, like what the fuck?

You claim you’re upset about ableism, but instead of talking to Cozette like a respectful person, you’ve decided to spam our blogs anonymously. That’s not advocacy. That’s being a coward.

If you truly cared about mental health representation, you’d reach out constructively, not mock people’s headcanons with “Narcc Chase” and “X.X” like a 2007 YouTube comment section.

You quote a Gordon Korman blog post like it’s scripture. Headcanons are not canon. That’s the whole point. We’re out here making art and exploring ideas, not writing for Scholastic. Headcanons literally not canon THAT IS THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT YOU IDIOT
