Or towards Iruka because of Mizuki's betrayal.

Or towards Danzo for take your pick of reasons.

Or towards Kabuto's Sensei for training him, or for being Orochimaru's student alongside Anko.

So why the hell does Anko Mitarashi, in fanfics, get such sh** treatment from the villagers and her peers in the aftermath of Orochimaru's betrayal?

He literally experimented on her, and undoubtedly tortured her as well.

“Huh?” was all she could manage to say.

Naruto, one of Kakashi's students, came to Anko and Kakashi's shared home early one night. "H-he's gone, Miss Anko," he repeated, tears threatening to spill.

Anko’s shock didn’t waver even after hearing the boy say it twice. Her eyes widened and her lips parted, refusing to believe what she had heard.

When it truly hit her, she felt her legs losing strength. She fell to her knees, and Naruto was quick to catch her, preventing her from collapsing further.

Anko knew this mission would be dangerous. Before Kakashi left, she had tried to stop him, but without success.

“Do you really have to go on this mission? It’s dangerous,” Anko asked with concern as they walked towards their home.

Kakashi stopped and turned to face her, letting out a sigh of affection. “Trust me, Anko,” he said, gently touching her growing bump. “I will not leave you two alone.”

“Uff, I guess I have to trust you then,” she pouted with a slight tease, crossing her arms over her chest. “But promise you’ll come back to us,” she added, pointing a finger at his toned chest.

Kakashi chuckled. “I promise.”

Naruto had already gone home, leaving Anko alone. But before he left, he had managed to pass on Kakashi's last words for her, even though it was hard for him to say. “Anko, please take care of yourself and our child. Don’t cry for me; live your life. I love you so much.”

Anko’s hand covered her mouth as more tears streamed down her face, his last words echoing in her mind. “I love you too,” she whispered between sobs to the man who no longer existed.

Anko cried and cried, his words repeating in her mind, along with all the memories they had shared.

“What do you think is a good name for a boy or girl?” she had asked him one relaxing night as they sat on the sofa. Kakashi didn’t answer immediately, just admiring her beautiful features. Pregnancy really made her glow.

When Anko noticed he had been staring, she blushed and playfully hit his shoulder. “Stop that,” she said with a smile.

“What? I can’t admire my beautiful wife?” he teased. Anko blushed even harder. Despite being married for three years, she still wasn’t used to being called a wife, but she liked it.

“Okay, answer me this time. What do you think is a fitting name for a boy or a girl?”

Kakashi thought for a moment. “For a girl, I think Setsuna. And for a boy—”

“Sakumo,” Anko interrupted.

Kakashi’s eyes widened. He hadn’t expected to hear his father’s name. “Why?”

“He was a hero, after all, and your father whom you loved,” Anko replied.

Kakashi chuckled, at a loss for words. “Thank you, Anko,” he said, leaning in to give her a gentle kiss.

“You promised!” she cried over and over, her soul aching with the loss. That night, she neither slept nor ate.

A week had passed since Kakashi’s death. Anko attended his funeral, flanked by Kurenai and Asuma, who ensured she wasn’t alone during this difficult time. They had taken great care of her, especially now that she was pregnant. The funeral went smoothly, without any intrusions or attacks.

Anko brought flowers to place on his grave and laid a hand on the stone.

Shout out to Ankowho was one of the early victims of the cursed seal and yet she's there, in Konoha, joking and smiling and directly facing Orochimaru when he dared to show up on the Forest of Death.

Shout out to Shizune who was there on the worst years for Tsunade, who lost Dan too and took care of Tsunade while feeling the same sorrow, who might be one of the biggest reasons Tsunade is still alive.

Anko and Shizune were one of the first apprentices of the sannin, powerful women on their own right.
