i know shizune isn't the close-range brawler that tsunade is, but being her first student probably means she's physically stronger than a normal person, right? at least a little bit. so, maybe when shizune gets really mad, she gets stronger. not to tsunade's level, but maybe to the point where her raw strength and durability become nothing to sneeze at.
