Quick Health Updates:

Regarding my ankle, I am up and walking full weight bearing without any support such as a cane or crutches🎉🎉🎉 My evaluation appointment for physical therapy is scheduled for May 20👍

Yes still in the boot. I am supposed to be full weight bearing by now, but the home healthcare place never called to tell me my walker was in. I also now have severe itching around both incisions which surgeon thinks is an allergic reaction to either the stitches or maybe the adhesive used. He would not prescribe anything for it just told me to put Benadryl ointment on it, which does absolutely nothing to stop the itching. He did say he did not think this was rejection of hardware or any allergy to the hardware because I guess that would show on the x-ray(?)

My mom unfortunately got the flu last week. She thought she was over it, but got sick yesterday and had to drive herself to the hospital because I’m not allowed to drive yet even though it’s the left leg that’s injured.🙄 The er didn’t do much for her even though they kept her there for around 8 hours yesterday. They did some tests but said they didn’t show anything wrong. They think she may have had an allergic reaction to some shampoo my aunt gave her to use. (My aunt is a retired beautician) She apparently had sores on her head, which she didn’t tell me about.

Worked today. It took me 10 mins to get my shoes on. (Foot + brace + sock didnt want to fit). 5hrs into my shift the pain was settling in over my entire body & i was hitting my max. I started shaking & was fighting back tears.

I just got back from the doctor. NO SURGERY NEEDED 🥳🎉 (for now lol). They said I’m allowed to start using weight bearing on my foot, but I still need crutches and no driving for the next few weeks. I’ll be doing physical therapy as well the next 6-8 weeks. If it’s not better by then, then we will discuss surgery.

Not sure how this will effect work and everything yet because I can’t drive, but if physical therapy can get me in normal shoes again then I’ll be able to go back to work. They also said if I do end up needing surgery, I will be off my foot for a month, walking boot another month, and it’s just a long healing time and recovery period. So let’s pray physical therapy is all that I need!
