To this day, I still think about writing a really good Animorphs/Avengers story
The ultimate barebones would be:
It's set relatively real-time, meaning that the Ani kids were ~16 in 1999
By 2010 (~Avengers time), the living humans wouldn't even be 30 yet
The Yeerk War went off in secret/was covered up by Shield
Jake never went on his suicide mission/no dealing with The One (yet)
Instead, Jake is employed by Shield for a variety of very secret roles
This changes a lot for me as to whether he was coerced into signing up as a minor and so is stuck in a very tight contract where Fury basically owns hm and Jake is resentful of that (with the trade-off being, so long as Jake is held by Shield, the rest of the gang can live their lives in peace)
Or did he join Shield for the same reason he goes off on the One Last Mission- because he can't leave the war behind
In some versions in my head, no one knows about Jake's powers and he reveals them at a cool moment but ultimately I don't think that's a great idea
The bottom line is always that Jake is devoted to keeping the Yeerk War a secret because that was what he believed was the right choice at the end of the war, but maybe these days he's regretting that decision and unfortunately has to live with his mistakes
Anyways, the story goes: the Avengers are assembled and are the big top dogs because not only did they save the world, they saved the world from alien invasion! They're so cool!
There's also this Jake guy who acts as a bit of a secretary/coffee guy/makes them sign forms etc etc. Obviously Fury wants him to be their new Coulson but like, the kid is a baby compared to the rest of the Avengers
While everyone is polite, no one takes much stock of Jake because he's just a kid! And a little dorky, a bit of a pushover, etc etc
And so from there it would be a series of scenes in which the cast of the Avengers all have moments where they have to do a double take at Jake to try and figure out why their intuition is telling them "something is up here" on the little moments where Jake lets his mask slip
These events could even include dramatics such as:
A mission gone bad and Jake lost a limb or was seriously injured in an explosion, only to show up with no injuries
Jake knowing to much about aliens that visit earth and him (badly) lying that he was going off intuition
Jake always exists as a bit of a morally gray character, who's focus is always on The Greater Good (more like Fury), than the morals of a situation, which can put him at odds with a lot of the Avengers. He's a very 'the ends justify the means' kind of guy.
There was a story where, with the events of The Winter Soldier, Hydra = Yeerk takeover, and so I was going to give Jake a very dramatic and public "Shield (hydra) is declaring this one dude enemy of the state and blaming him for Nick Fury's murder" to which everyone goes "Jake??? But he gets nauseous killing flies??"
And so along this route is how Steve and co would reunite with Jake somewhere and find out about the Yeerk War
There was also a thought about the events of Infnity War, with the Bg Last Stand in Wakanda, where Jake rolls in with his Howler morph and a bunch of the Hork-Bajir colony and remaining Animorphs to fight to defend earth
And so during the big fight Jake would be trying to draw Thanos out, because Thanos would definitely know about Howlers, and Jake would be projecting his Greatest Hits (read: war crimes and victories) through thought-speach to goad Thanos into engaging him, leading to the final showdown in that movie of the team trying to stop Thanos and failing

I love the idea of all of those animorphs crossovers, but especially the star wars and avengers ones.
HONESTLY I MIGHT WRITE THEM.
But like for a preview:
STAR WARS: General Leia somehow ends up on Earth and has a Very Grim Conversation with Jake that’s mostly about brothers and warriors and how to live through living through battles and loving someone who doesn’t carry that weight half so harshly. Alternatively, Rogue One is caught by the Death Star’s blast wave and shunted across a universe, and the Animorphs find them broken and bruised and Cassian and Jyn look into their eyes and see themselves. Chirrut and Baze call all of them ‘little brother’ and ‘little sister’ and it makes Rachel prickle. The Animorphs go from six to eleven (Chirrut morphs a mountain lion and Jyn morphs a wolverine, I don’t have the others sorted). K2 doesn’t make it to Earth at all. Rogue One still dies for the cause. The End.
AVENGERS: I have two ideas here.
The obvious, in which the Animorphs get a “gift” from the Ellimist (”DOES HE OWN A DICTIONARY” Marco demands) and are sent to a world the Yeerks never touched and pop up RIGHT in the middle of the Battle of New York and handily freak out the Avengers. Especially Steve, who almost has a heart attack at the sight of a teenaged girl in a leotard sprinting at him and shouting “Toss me”, and literally almost gets his head cut off when he watches her vault off his shield and turn into a fucking grizzly on the way down. Tony almost throws up when he sees a gorilla get disemboweled and start turning back into a teenager as a bunch of people yell
The one I haven’t really seen yet, in which the War happens a little later (like it ends maybe 2001) and thus the Animorphs are only about 26 when the Avengers are formed. Still pretty young. SHIELD kept the whole Yeerks thing under wraps (so. many. NDAs.), so imagine the Avenger’s surprise when the late Phil Coulson is replaced with a young dude build like a football player who tells them to call him Jake, and who introduces his team of equally young people plus one bird as their new backup.
Both of these include Marco and Tony basically talking shit about each other incessantly, Bruce and Cassie talking in soft honest tones about how it feels to be afraid of yourself, Tobias and Clint making horribly unfunny jokes about their childhoods, Steve taking it upon himself to make sure Jake actually talks about the stress of leadership and about how afraid he is of getting someone killed (Bucky and Tom get compared…especially if this is still a thing post-WS) and Natasha and Rachel being really weird friends where mostly they spar. Oh, and also Ax and Thor bonding about Poptarts.
I also saw Wonder Woman today and I feel like there’s a great AU where that crossover also happens.
I don't know if you're still doing any, but I love all of your anivengers headcannons. And all your other animorphs headcannons really but the anivengers especially.
AAAHHHHH i loved getting this ask because i too love all my anivengers hc but............................... they’re all about Jake Being Cool and have nothing to do with the other Animorphs, or the Avengers really, and completely miss the moral points of both series lol.
So they’re pure indulgence for me when I just wanna groove on a thought of Jake getting to be a Big Damn Hero or get a Dramatic Reveal.
That being said, here’s a fun scenario that’s been jammin w my tunes lately:
(warnings for animorphs-typical violence)
Jake is the Avengers’ Handler/Coulson-character, and while they keep being suspicious there might be something more at play, overall he’s just a normal, ordinary human w no special powers to them. And still kind of a klutz. And the dad friend who makes the Worst Jokes which is terrible when you’re a team of deadpan snarkers.
Anyways Big Boss Fight is happening, everyone’s kinda getting their butts kicked and Big Bad is gonna get The Thing That He Wants, and for a moment everyone thinks he’s gonna get it!!! And then Jake steps in shooting Big bad point blank until he empties his clip, but it’s not enough!!! But an act of heroism!!!
And then Big Bad uses his evil gun/ray/whatever and blows Jake’s skull out. And he drops and everyone’s like ‘oh noooo!!!’ and it’s a big emotional moment like when Coulson died, and everyone’s enraged and finding the spirit to fight again, despite all their injuries!
Big Bad turns around to gloat at them. He’s won, he’s victorious!!!
And then a half-morphed, skull still growing back in, Jake leaps onto his back and sinks his teeth into Big Bad. And nothing Big Bad can do will dislodge Jake, as he finishes his morph into a healthy, dangerous, huge siberian tiger.
The other Avengers are doing a lot of internal screaming and whatnot, but rally and jump in to stop Big Bad, and then yay! The day is saved!
And that’s how Jake reveals that his “superpower” is shape shifting.
[and also the running “gag” of Jake surviving getting shot in the head from the animorphs series]
I had a completely out of the blue Anivengers dream last night.
Tony was sent by Fury to get “backup” for some fight or smth, and so he goes to this nondescript house in a nice neighbourhood and meets the Berensons and tosses ball with their young son in the driveway, and noticed pictures on the wall that indicate they had another son who passed away (all the pictures w the older son are old photos, there’s no grad pictures, etc)
Long story short something weird happened when The Rachel rammed the Blade Ship, and everyone on board woke up back on earth in the body they originally got their morphing power (aka Tobias, Marco and Jake are stuck as 13yos)
All I remember is that Jake was a salty asshole who resented being called back in to fight but was also relieved cause he felt his life was miserable etc etc

(possibly body horror warning, but v tame for both animorphs and avengers so not really)
ft the au where Jake works with the Avengers as a liason/contact/point man but the Avengers know nothing about him or the Yeerks, and the whole Yeerk War was kept secret
but i’ve been thinking about Jake having some sort of implant that allows The Military to monitor him at all times and know when he’s in morph/if he’s leaking information to anyone bc Jake Berenson is a bit of a loose canon in that he’ll follow his own ideas before he obeys the orders of his superiors and also bc the Military is paranoid about what someone like Jake can do.
so eventually i thought about ‘why not a sci-fi collar that electrocutes jake if he tries to morph without permission?’. And after several trials they figured out how to embed it into Jake’s skin so that it morphs with him so if/when jake does morph he has a recognisable collar still.
this means tho that the Avengers would be very aware of the collar p early on and probably be informed ‘here’s the release code, it only lasts for 2 hours and i’ll be of as much help as i can, but use at your own risk’ and essentially i thought about setting jake up even more blatantly as a “possible friend/possible enemy, we really don’t know” to the Avengers, but with a hint of Moggat from the Abhorsen Trilogy where he’s helpful while he’s wearing the collar, but when the collar isn’t forcing him to obey, is he still on your side or ????
and from there, of course, the Avengers have to let Jake loose at some point bc they got no choice, and from there they run into Jake in-morph or morphing, but they recognise the collar and make the connection that Jake is a shapeshifter and so their next thought is ‘is this guy even human?’
