ok so the anime did the prequel story, hidden inventory, beautifully really, but it just didn't hit with the same impact as the manga. I've noticed with the anime vs. manga that a lot of the visual gags and lighter interpersonal relationship stuff plays really really well in animation but the impact of trauma in the story just isn't as striking in the anime. Some of the original flare is always lost, changed, or transformed when adapting anything from one format to another obviously so that's not a criticism. I think overall jjk is one of the best adaptations of recent years.
I'm extremely excited to see how the Shibuya incident adapts to animation.
