didn’t really change much, but they’re really fun to draw

drew angelworu as well, they’re so silly. the wings on their back are incapable of flight/not really useful. good for wrapping around Shinji though.

rant below about design + a smidge of lore

Ithiel/Bishop’s hair is natural and longer since the timeline of events is over a much longer period of time than in canon (angels do not attack every few weeks, although they can occur as soon as the former). The change in design is also a result of Kaji’s death (growing it out in order to preserve his memory).

the blood from his eyes and nose are part of an extreme reaction towards angelic entities, but moreso his body having an overreaction to pseudoevolution/angelification. having a nosebleed for him is an omen of an oncoming, or approaching angel.

however that’s not really that concerning in comparison to the forced changes in anatomy (I.e. bones breaking themselves then healing back into the new skeleton, developing gills, organ adaptations, etc.), which end up being slowed down by the overreaction, representing his futile efforts to retain his humanity/adhere to normalcy.

over time, the more he shifts, the quicker the process as the body finally learns to calm down. turning back into the lilim is always easier. the first time is always the hardest, and this is sometimes what ends up killing him in certain timelines.

they cannot see well however the eyelids can be pushed up if needed. this is extremely unnerving so they don’t try to do it very often, especially since their eyes do not undergo any visual changes.

the “chewing on his arm” comes from a habit of nibbling on his arm when he’s stressed or overwhelmed, usually when nobody is looking (general urge to chew on things when stressed), and can lead to full on biting himself. this is a not good since he will end up hurting himself. more obvious here since he was attempting to cope with the pain on his own (as well as a meager attempt to muffle the screaming).

the other scars come from being a child soldier or an incident involving a eva that went berserk during the contact experiment. easily hidden under clothes.

the bindings help hide the core.
