What if. What if I said I was thinking about them again
Android tango doodle~!!
Heās woken up by a bumbling engineer and forced to repair himself after the abysmal job the engineer did, but he sticks around after anyways!
More on Jimmy Who Knows Less Than Nothing About Androids (in which the fire inside Tangoās hands combined with the force of his shell cracking/popping probably forced some wires loose, so Tango now has to guide Jimmy through fixing and reconnecting everything. It takes, um⦠a little longer than Tango was expecting it to, but hey! At least he can use his hands now!)
How would they reprint an expendable? Is jimmy human?
The reprinting and expendable stuff is based off the Mickey 17/Mickey 7 movie/book!
In it, the main character is human and signs up to be an āexpendableā to secure passage off earth in a big ship because he doesnāt have any other skills to get him on there. They basically take a physical āsnapshotā of him and all his memories and then his specific body is the only one coded to be reprinted with a sort of high tech 3D printer thing!
They use him to test things to get vaccines made, send him on dangerous missions, etc, and every time he dies they just print him out again and off he goes!!
In the movie there was also a doppelgƤnger angle where they THOUGHT heād died but he actually didnāt and they reprinted a new guy only to find out the OG was still there! And then plot and story ensued etc etc
Iām not going to be using anything much else from the movie besides Jimmy being an expendable and being reprinted only to die again!
He thinks itās a big honor and is happy to do it, even though his deaths are full of suffering a lot of times. But in his mind heās a hero because his suffering prevents OTHER people from suffering.
Unfortunately though, he turns a blind eye to the way heās treated more like a dishrag than a hero, but Tango is picking up on it and itās becoming hard to ignore.
ANYWAYS hereās some drawings of Jimmy I did over Mickey screenshots to play around with his printing stuff! They fit him with a collar before they let him go which monitors his vitals for research purposes but is also a kill switch if they need to terminate a Jimmy run early š

In light of my recent⦠Minor (tm) Ranchers obsession, and also in light of the confirmation that the life series are canon to dbhc, I raise for consideration: dbhc wamchermsā¦. ;.; sniff. wanchersā¦
Tango is already deviant by the start of Double Life, so the burned ranch isnāt what triggers his deviancy or anything, but this does leave him with permanent damage. His model is built to withstand extreme heat and explosions, but I imagine that he gets so angry that his insides fry, circuits catching flame and making the plastic shell crack from the inside out, kind of like an engine fire erupting from the hood of a car. Jimmy knows next to nothing about androids, so he just does what he thinks is best: keeping Tango from hurting anyone else and⦠shouting every computer lingo phrase he can think of in the hopes itāll do something to get him to calm down.
How did Jimmy actually end up making a functional robot in the first place?
Love the art so much, absolutely eating this up
HAHAH he actually DIDNāT make tango! Heās not a very good engineer at ALL unfortunately, mostly regulated to a pipe fix or frayed wire refresh or a little metalwork!
What actually happened is he found a shut down tango and decided to bring him back online! He MANAGED to boot tango up again but he did such a poor job fixing him that tango finished the rest of the repairs himself (and quietly fixed a few things Jimmy did wrong HAHAHGD)
Also related but unrelated, I saw Mickey 17 and decided Jimmy is an expendable, which if you didnāt see the movie, basically Jimmy does work as someone they can send into dangerous situations or do experiments on! He dies, they reprint him out, and off he goes again!
Which is what the logo on his shoulder indicates!
Tango doesnāt know how he feels about the way Jimmy is treated :/
hey itās me again, that anon who asked about your robot yaoi
I had a question about what exactly Jimmy is? if heās below android and below human and that makes him and expendable, what exactly is an expendable? Is it a human with respawn mechanics? or is it just the poorer class of humans and Jimmy happens to be able to respawn, making this the perfect (airquotes) job for him? Jejdjjdjdkdjkd I love this so much :3
HIII welcome back!!
I think for this, expendable is just a job class and the only one he qualified for BUT they tell him heās special because not everyone can be reprinted and be functional like he is? Now if thatās the truth, he doesnāt know for sure, but it makes him feel important! Plus the printer can only be coded for one person so heās the only one that can be made in it anyways.
He IS a human, but instead of a job like an actual engineer or a pilot or something like that, he originally was on a ship and used both there and then the planet the ship landed on, and then after a while when things are all settled and safe, they send him off on another ship to a new world and the process starts over again.
His busiest times are when the ships have freshly landed on a planet and they need a human to trial out all the new bacteria and virus and plant/animal life and make vaccines and plans for the rest of the community to be able to survive perfectly! Itās rough on him but blearily cheering with the scientists as the 56th trial vaccine finally works is the high point of his many respawns
Secretly thoughā¦deep downā¦.he hates dying and is scared every time :,0
But now he at least has someone to hold him through some of the longer and suckier trials
