Well. Today could’ve been worse? It wasn’t perfect, but the kids had fun AND I got some work done (not much, but a little?)... . . Biggest lesson learned today: I can’t ignore the fact that M is 18mos younger than H. Add to it that she’s in a pretty defiant / test the limits type phase right now to begin with. H was so excited to try out his new school and was super patient with her. But we will continue to adjust as we go... . . They need 5-10 mins of play time down there before we start circle time. Seems obvious to me now...but that might help M enjoy the other activities if she gets to explore the room more first. . . I also am confident she could do any of the activities I set out today. But it would take concentration. So, for tomorrow, I tried to mix in things that are really aimed more at a 2yo. Circle time book is three little pigs. Then, trays to complete for stickers: 1. Finish 3 little pig pictures to make puppets 2. Dinosaur rescue with dinosaurs taped on baking sheets (I’m anticipating this takes 5 seconds but see it so many places as a fine motor activity...) 3. Dot marker letters D-F 4. Muffin tins with sorting activities — I put color stickers in the bottom of one for M and numbers in the bottom of one for H 5. Shape puzzles I printed/laminated a while ago from @totschooling 6. Letters to 2 of our family members . . The next piece for me to figure out is how our stickers / rewards work. Maybe we do it just this week and no more? Technically, H got 5 and M got 4 today...because she was WILD and didn’t want to color (although she normally looooves to color)...but I don’t want any of this to be punitive! I’m thinking I’ll find a way to quietly reward her an extra tomorrow? So that way they can both get their “surprise” at the end of the week...? . . All things to figure out. But. For now, I’ll take it one day at a time and just cross my fingers that they are somewhat interested in their activities tmrw while I’m teaching about the French Revolution live on zoom! 💙 #homewithtoddlers #andababy #teachingfromhome #toddleractivities https://www.instagram.com/p/B-YQsRBFWVg/?igshid=plp2l14miy7f
