“what the fuck is wrong with me right now?” he thought. math. that was the reason he was here. he was here to help you. that was the reason you both sat in this library, wasn’t it? surely you wouldn’t have made up some excuse to have him come help you just because, right?

“eren?” you spoke softly, realizing that he most likely hadn’t heard one word you said. “did you happen to catch any of that?”

“fuck,” he says, snapping back to reality. “no… i’m sorry.” he wonders how you would react if you had any idea that he’d been thinking of you the whole time. the softness of your voice, the way your lips moved when you spoke, the way your hair framed your face so perfectly.

“yeah, i know,” you said, laughing. “maybe you should stop staring at me and read this problem so you actually know what it is i need help with, jaeger.” you replied as you suddenly met his gaze.

“what–i wasn’t staring at you.” he immediately shoots back, his face flushed pink. “don’t get a big head just ‘cause i’m helping you with your homework.”

“mm whatever, just help me.” you muttered dismissively

fratboy!eren who couldn’t believe you’d just caught him. and more than that, he couldn’t believe how embarrassed it made him. little did he know, you felt the same exact way; you were just much better at hiding it than he was. he thought you were completely oblivious to the way he’d been acting around you, but you’d always been pretty sharp. you noticed all the times when his eyes stayed glued to you a little longer than they should have, you noticed when he’d subtly glance at your lips when he assumed you weren’t looking, and you’d even noticed the subtle changes in him, as well. at first, you’d just assumed that some of your good habits seemed to be rubbing off on him because of how often you were now around each other. then, you realized how much time you actually spent together. it wasn’t like you were complaining– you’d actually initiated quite a few of your “study sessions.” of course they were mostly excuses to see him, but you get it. to put it truthfully, you liked being around eren, you found him interesting. you actually found yourself thinking of him quite a lot. and before you could fully admit that it was a crush, you had told yourself that it was just because you guys had gotten quite close in a short amount of time, of course. but you knew yourself too well to brush this feeling off, and you found it even more enthralling when you’d began picking up on the subtle hints that he’d drop, whether he actually meant to drop them or not.

after a long and sort-of-successful studying session, he finally began to drive you back to your dorm. a comfortable silence filled the car as you two sat in each other’s presence. he kept his eyes on the road, pretending that he didn’t feel you glancing at him here and there. well, he tried to pretend.

“why do you keep looking at me?” he asked, interrupting the silence.

“because i wanted to see how long it would take before you realized and snapped.” you giggled. “almost eleven minutes, thats one minute of mighty progress!” you added sarcastically.

without a word, eren pulls over to the side of the road.

“what are you doing?” you questioned, looking around for a few seconds before returning your eyes to the gorgeous man.

he continues as he turns his body to you. he didn’t utter a word as he sat, looking directly into your eyes. you had no choice but to stare back, the air grew thicker; the atmosphere of the car heavier.

fratboy!eren who studied your face as he stared at you with such softness in his eyes that it made you forget everything you knew about him. his reputation, his flaws, his cocky attitude. none of it mattered, because when he looked at you with that look on his face, you felt your insides turn into pure glitter. he took this as a chance to really take in your features: your loving e/c eyes that stared back at him partly in confusion and partly intrigued, your plump lips that he hadn’t stopped thinking about since the first time he’d spoken to you. the way your eyebrows furrowed, your perfectly sculpted cheekbones. he even noticed the way your face began to redden as he continued to observe you. your lips finally began to curl into a small, awkward smile.

“forty-seven seconds.” he announced, silky voice cutting through the silence.

“what?”

“took you forty-seven seconds to snap.” he chuckles as he turns the car back on and continues to drive back to your dorm, “you’d better work on that.”

“oh, shut up, jaeger.” you retort, lightly slapping his arm away from you as you attempt to hide your blushing face. “i didn’t snap.” you could still hear your own heartbeat in your ears. honestly, you were surprised you even lasted that long.
