CUTLER, AMY(Estados Unidos, 1974)
Esta artista se dedica principalmente a la pintura y el grabado. En sus obras vemos retratos y personajes, generalmente femeninos, vestidos con ropas en las que la artista pone mucho detalle y atención, creando texturas y patrones para los que se basa en diferentes trajes tradicionales de diferentes partes del mundo y diferentes culturas. Son personajes ficticios.
Su estilo está muy relacionado con la rama de la ilustración por la forma en la que representa y compone su obra. La temática es la mujer y un rechazo a los roles de género tradicionales a través del uso de elementos extraños. En sus obras se suelen ver grupos de mujeres realizando trabajos tradicionales femeninos pero con elementos antinaturales, como criaturas híbridas, animales deformados o utensilios domésticos. Les da un toque mágico a través de la rareza de la que dota a la escena. Esta artista ha expuesto internacionalemente, pero sobre todo en Europa y Estados Unidos, en centros como el MoMA en exposiciones grupales y el Reina Sofía en presentaciones individuales.
