Ravens are known to be a sign of luck, and Raven could really use some right about now. She’d asked around for directions to the nearest field, which was surprisingly vast. Once she got there, she lifted her mask up above her mouth and started making a rather obnoxious sound, sounds you’d hear from a corvid.
After awhile, she’d finally gotten a black bird to land near her, only to find she’d attracted a crow. Disgusting, she thought, shooing the creature. As she was about to give up, a loud, monstrous sound rang through the field. Immediately drawing her sword, she scanned the field for some sign of whatever made that sound.
--Above!
A massive black bird-like creature swooped down at her, and the sheer size of it was too large for Raven to jump out of the way. The impact had her spinning, her mask easily falling off her face and hitting the ground. How she managed to stay on her feet was likely a miracle, but the creature was ready for more before she could even fully recover.
Rolling just barely out of the way, she watched the creature swoop back up into the air. It was far from over, and Raven was finding herself too weak to deal with it on her own.
“Damn it--!”
