Amigara fault has been all over the news lately. People go there, as if insects lured in by the scent of a pitcher plant, only to disappear in the mountain, never to be seen again.

And while there are those who are called by their holes right away, some experience the pull differently.

Sometimes it's just watching the news reports, eyes drifting through all the silhouettes embedded in the rock, only to stop on one particular shape. And you know. You look at this smaller sized hole - maybe a teenager's or even a child's - and the knowledge resonates in your whole being: it is yours. Or more accurately, it should have been yours and it would have been have been yours had the fault been discovered years ago.

You dodged the bullet this life around but the mountain forever haunts you - a niggling feeling at the back of your mind during the day, dreams of darkness and claustrophobia at night.

You and those sharing your fate do not last long. Paranoïa and depression take them away from this life all to soon so they can embrace their place in Amigara during their next existence.

Other times... well... the effects are infinitely more insidious.

The first time you hear about the fault, it's on the news. You don't really think much about the information, it's interesting, if a bit creepy, but you don't think there's much to be concerned about.

Two days later, you decide to go to the gym. You've always been perfectly happy with your body - you might be a tad overweight but you like your "love handles" - however, today, you decide that maybe you could stand to shed some kilos.

By the end of the week, you go every day and have switched your diet to a healthier one - a drastic change. Your family and friends support you: they are overjoyed you finally decided to "take a better care of yourself". You smile at them but deep in your soul you /know/. It's a stray thought, one you cannot focus on: you didn't decide anything, this is something you /must/ do.

Months have passed.

Today is the day.

You finally have the right shape. The perfect shape.

You fit.

You've gone to Amigara fault today and were never seen again.

Of course this was not an isolated case. All across the country, people took radical mesures to change their appearance.

Understanding hit those who weren't affected and, in an attempt to stop the flow, new campaigns about "loving yourself as you are" start appearing everywhere.

It doesn't work.

As daily news about the mountain keep, incomprehensibly, being broadcasted, it slowly becomes a fact of life.
