Saab 96
The Saab factory of the Swedish Aviation Corporation (Svenska Aeroplan Aktie Bolag) was built in 1938 in Trollhatten. The products of the corporation, of course, were military aircraft required to maintain neutrality. In 1944, at the end of the war, work began on the Saab 90 (25-30 passengers) and Saab 91 (personal use). But the Saab 92 project was already a car.

An aeronautical approach to design and testing of a scaled model of the body in a wind tunnel led to the creation of the original Ursaab prototype with a Cx of 0.33. True, the car turned out to be not very beautiful, and after improving the design (designer Sixten Sason) aerodynamics deteriorated to Cx = 0.35, but after three years of work, the Saab car with index 92 was shown to journalists on June 10, 1947. The first production copy was released in December 1949 and was produced until the 56th (more than 20,000 cars were produced in total).

The next improved 1954 Saab 93 was actually a three-cylinder variant of the Saab 92 and had a spring suspension. With it, Saab entered the foreign market. The appearance of the car changed: the rear window increased, the jumper disappeared from the windshield, a new design of the front part of the body appeared. The open Saab 94 (better known as the Sonett) - the sports version of the Saab 93 - developed 160 km / h and weighed 500 kg.

In 1959, the Saab 95 utility model was released (a two-seater van or a seven-seater station wagon with rear-row seats turned forward). Interesting design solutions that made it possible to combine the aerodynamic body with the volume of the rear of the station wagon. The station wagon was produced until 1978 and all changes were carried out in parallel with the Saab 96.

Without such a long introduction, the continuity of the hero of this advertisement, who was a logical continuation of his ancestors, would not be very clear. The Saab 96, introduced in 1960, became as popular for Sweden as the VW Beetle in Germany, the Citroen 2CV in France and the Trabant in the German Democratic Republic. It was produced for 20 long years - from 1960 to January 1980 (the last two years - only in Finland).
I will introduce you to the Cars of the World of different years of release.
Introduce you to the Beauty of the Automotive world.
