Ames and webcomic recommendations
It's been two years (wow, two years) since I made this comic book lettering font, Ames, as a thesis project and offered it to be used freely in comics. From time to time I come across it in a webcomic or a comic book and that makes me really happy! It's brilliant to see it in action and paired up with different art styles and stories.
Also, man, I'm honoured that it gets used in such good webcomics!! I thought I'd gather a few examples here of some that I've really enjoyed reading:
FERAL GENTRY by Anayte & Matti Delahay (Tumblr)
A city fairy living among humans meets another of his kind after years of solitude and his life gets complicated
The use of flash animation is seriously gorgeous and unique
Remember to read the alt texts, they are very informative
NO END by Erli & Kromi (Tumblr)
Travellers bond while fending off zombies in a post-apocalyptic world
Erli and Kromi are outdoing themselves with the art!!
Also Kata's ballooning and lettering are really neat and pro and that's a weirdly specific thing for me to pay attention to but there it is
That blue-haired guy there is freaking adorable
PAHANTEKIJÄ by Miia "Vol" Kontinen (Tumblr)
A novice priest arrives in a village with an inconvenient vampire problem, but the locals are puzzlingly unwilling to accept her help
I like the worldbuilding and the vampire mythology in this a lot
The animals and monsters especially look fantastic
The main character is great, I'm very fond of her
If any of you guys have a webcomic where you're using Ames, do send me a link sometime, I'd love to read it!
